The Apostate Ecumenical Movement

The Emergence of a One World Religion

Modern Ecumenical Movement
There is great emphasis in the church today on uniting professing Christians of all denominations and beliefs. The message is that we're not so different after all... we can work together. Setting aside theological differences, we can help each other in the things we all agree upon. That effort is commonly referred to as "ecumenism," which is defined as "the organized attempt to bring about the cooperation and unity of all believers in Christ."

"Take heed that no man deceive you."... "And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many."..."For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." - Matthew 24:4;11;24

The foundation for this ecumenical trend has been laid and built upon over many years. We saw the beginning of institutional ecumenism in the 1960's, with The World Council of Churches, mostly liberal mainline Protestant denominations who denied such essential doctrines as the inerrancy of Scripture and a literal, bodily resurrection of Christ. For years, Evangelicals distanced themselves from this institutional ecumenism because of the unsound theology of the groups involved.

Today, however, that spirit of compromise has invaded Evangelicalism. The more recent Catholic-Evangelical accord is an example of such compromise. In this accord, Evangelicals compromised essential doctrines such as justification by faith alone and the sufficiency of Scripture in order to unite with Roman Catholics on issues such as abortion and school prayer.

And, how can anyone ignore the ecumenical influence of the Promise Keepers movement sweeping the nation?

These are voices coming from within the Church that are deceiving the "hearts of the simple" (Rom. 16:18) and "the very elect" (Mat. 24:24) with the satanic agenda of a one world religion. Believer's had better wake up soon before it's too late.

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. - Matthew 7:21-23Apostasy in the church and false doctrines of men

Most of the major Christian denominations have deviated from biblical Christianity in one way or another. . I understand that this article will not win me any popularity contest but very few others are talking about the apostasy in the church institutions identified with Christianity and the false doctrines of men within these church institutions that now deviate from true biblical Christianity.

The one true Church of God is interwoven in all Christian denominations. I have noticed in my own experiences that there is at least a small core of believers in just about every church in every denomination.

My purpose is to expose the darkness so that the true light of the gospel of Christ will shine. I do not believe that true Christians can significantly change an overwhelmingly apostate carnal Christian church. What we can do however, is not be deceived by Satan's devices or support what is not of God in our churches.
Who is a Christian?

There are two billion people on the earth who identify themselves as Christians, but there are significantly fewer that are really part of the body of Christ.

Jesus said you can not enter the kingdom of heaven unless you are born of the Spirit. The new birth from the Holy Spirit occurs when a person truly believes that Jesus is the son of God and trusts in the finished work of Jesus on the cross to atone for their own sins and to justify them before God.

The scriptures say you are saved by faith, not by your own works, lest anyone should boast.

All religion contains methods, rituals and practices for man to become righteous enough to ascend or evolve to God. All religion thus believes in the need for one to become self righteous. True Christianity is the complete opposite. True Christianity believes in God's righteousness. Because of His righteousness, Jesus the creator, died for our sins and breached the gap between God and man. True Christianity believes God provides a free gift of eternal life to anyone who trusts in Him (has faith) that God is graceful and sent His Son to save those who believe in His righteousness.

Apostate Christianity (departure from true biblical Christianity) in its final analysis cannot be distinguished from any other religion in the world in its quest for God. No wonder apostate Christianity will be willing to join with all the other religions of the world. These nominal Christians think they are Christian just because it is part of their culture and because they believe in a higher power. Even demons believe in a higher power. Apostate Christianity has nothing to do with a born again experience with the evidence of a Holy Spirit changed life.

Some in religious training were taught that Jesus died for their sins and that they are saved or justified, but in their lives there is no evidence by works of the Spirit. Do they really have Jesus or do they only have head knowledge about Him? Do they have Churchianity or Christianity?

Those that trust in their own good works to save them are self deceived and still in their sins. If there ever was a religion that could allow man to fellowship with God it was Judaism but the requirement was to keep all of God's law. The laws of Judaism did not achieve salvation because in man's fallen state he could never keep the whole law. Man's righteousness and good works can never bring about eternal life with God because man always falls short of the required perfection necessary to dwell in the presence of a Holy God. Yet Judaism did not fail because through the tribe of Judah a Savior from God was born.
True Christianity

Jesus being born a man but being also God perfectly fulfilled the law. He Himself had no sin but He obediently paid the price for the curse on man under God's perfect law. Atonement for sin brought into the world by Adam's disobedience was paid for by the obedience of God's Lamb by death on the cross. At the cross He took the curse upon Himself for it is written "cursed is anyone who hangs on a tree" (Gal 3:13). Death could not hold the Creator and He rose to begin a new creation and in doing so condemned the old fallen creation to its eternal destruction. Those who trust Him are born again into this new new creation of believers called the "Body of Christ". After we are born into this new creation, God no longer sees us as the sinners we were but He sees us as the sinless "body and bride of Christ". (The scripture says in marriage the two shall become one flesh - Paul used this as the example of Christ and the Church - Eph 5: 31- 32.)

"True Christianity is then believing that God's promise to provide a Savior was fulfilled in His Son Jesus." This promise of a Savior and Messiah to restore man's fellowship with God is integrated throughout all scripture.

What do the large Christian denominations now confess?

Unfortunately, Most of the large Christian denomination leadership has become infiltrated by the elite militia of Satan the jesuit order and much of the institutional church has fallen away from the true faith and have followed doctrines of men. Some have a different Jesus then the Jesus of scripture.  In the following paragraphs I give my reasons for saying there is now apostasy in the church throughout the major institutional churches that identify with Christianity.
The Roman Catholic Church.

The membership of this church is more than half of all that are identified as Christianity (over one billion people) but the majority of Catholics baptized into the denomination do not even regularly practice their religion. Additionally, many Catholics know little about their own beliefs or they ignore the doctrine. Many integrate it with native pagan religions.

This denomination teaches that you are saved by grace, faith and works of merit. God's grace is something you must earn by keeping the church sacraments, traditions and rituals and by doing good works. The priests of the church are successors of the apostles and have all of Christ's authority on earth. The priests are grace dispensers and the church is infallible. If you accumulate enough merit you will go to heaven. Otherwise you will have to go through the fires of purgatory or to hell. The writings of the church fathers and the traditions of the church have equal weight with the holy scriptures. The members of this church are in the process of being saved by their works of merit.

Problems:

Many of the church's traditions and practices are contrary to scripture proving that this church is far from being infallible. Satan with his wolves in sheep's clothing has infiltrated this church and corrupted it. The Catholic Church has become like the corrupted Judaism that Jesus condemned. It is largely a church of Pharisees and of blind ritual -- a church of idolatry, rote prayer, and traditions of men. To rid most of Christianity of apostasy in the Church we first would have to go to the root of apostasy and purge out most of the doctrines that have infiltrated the Catholic Church.

The seven sacraments

The seven Sacraments of the Catholic Church are rituals for grace. The church believes that the ritual itself will dispense grace from God. It appears that the church puts the cart before the horse. No spiritual grace come from ritual, but power from the Holy Spirit is given to those who listen to God and obey Him.
The sacrament of the baptism of infants is not scriptural or logical. The ritual of baptism is for identifying believers with the death and resurrection of Jesus. Babies do not believe. True baptism is dying with Christ and by faith being born into a new creation called the "body of Christ".
The sacrament of the Eucharist should be a memorial and remembrance of Christ's broken body and shed blood for us. There is no place in scripture that says we are to offer Christ's body on the altar daily or that the bread and the wine actually becomes the body of Jesus, and by putting these elements in your stomach you will receive Him into your body and get grace from Him.
The Sacrament of contrition and penance is contrary to scripture. The scriptures say that Jesus is the only intermediator. between God and man. The doctrine that you can have your sins forgiven by confession to a priest who then intermediates and gives absolution if you do the penance he dictates, abolishes what Jesus did for us on the cross for all sin. Who is sinless enough to intermediate for us with God except Jesus, and which sin did Jesus not pay for?
This church teaches that the sacrament of confirmation is where you get the power of the Holy Spirit. The scriptures however, teach that you get the Holy Spirit when you believe and you get power to do His will when you earnestly pray for it.
Marriage is a union between two people. There is no reason given in scripture for it to be a Church sacrament or for the ceremony to be performed by a priest or clergy -- not that the practice of getting married by the elder of any church is wrong.
The ordination of a special priesthood is contrary to New Testament scripture. The scripture teaches that all in Christ are kings and priests.
The sacrament of Extreme Unction indicates that the dying get some special grace by having a priest say some ritualistic prayers over them. This is a distortion of the true biblical practices of elders praying over the sick.

The cult of Mary

A large sect in this church teaches that Mary is co-Redeemer and that she was without sin. The scripture says that there is salvation in no other name than Christ Jesus. The scriptures also say that all have sinned including Mary. Jesus said that John the Baptist was the greatest of all born of women. Why did He not say His mother was if she was without sin? When the natural mother of Jesus and His brothers (yes, Jesus had brothers according to scripture) thought He went crazy and wanted to talk to Him, Jesus said His mother and brothers are those that do the will of His Father. Mary is not the mother of God, she is the mother of the natural body that God incarnated. Mary is not the mother of the Church. She had to believe to be saved and had to receive the Holy Spirit and become a member of the "body of Christ" like everyone else. How can Mary be the mother of a membership that includes herself?

The idea that Mary is interceding for the Christians and appearing to many and giving statements to people that are often contrary to the scriptures is an insult to Mary. The bottom line of these apparitions at the very least is a message of salvation by works which will save no one. Furthermore, many Catholics are now into witchcraft and things forbidden in the Bible because they believe in these lies. Much of what is being said by apparitions attributed to Mary parallels pagan new age teachings and doctrine of demons. Those into Mariology like to reduce the God of the Universe to a child on Mary's knee but He is a consuming fire and the only intermediator. between God and man.

Saying the Rosary with its "Hail Mary's" is rote prayer to someone other than God. This is idolatry! Jesus said to pray to the Father. If He wanted people to pray to his earthly mother He would have said so. Furthermore, how in the world could anyone really believe that Mary would want to hear the same prayer over and over and over again? Do people think that she or they get power from their chanting? This is witchcraft! Even common sense should tell them that no one wants to hear the same thing over and over again. I am sure the real Mary of the Bible would tell the people who chant these prayers to please shut up.

Many times the real reasons for the rote prayer is not even addressed in the prayer service. For example, when Catholics pray "Hail Mary's" in front of abortion clinics. Their ritualistic chanting leaves the body of Christ open to much ridicule by unbelievers and all of this is a counterfeit substitution for real prayer to God about the real situation that is needing prayer. The scripture tells us not to say rote prayers as the heathen do that think they will be heard for their many words. We are told that God knows what we need before we ask. Our requests should be like a child toward his Father. Try saying the same thing fifty or more times to your earthly father or mother daily and note their response to you.

The "queen of heaven" was worshiped in ancient Babylon. She also had a child in her arms. This was not Mary and Jesus but they were demon gods. God did not have anything good to say about the people who worshiped her (see reference). Obviously some Catholics have used the blessed name of Mary of scripture to incorporate pagan Babylonian practices and beliefs into the Church.

The doctrine of purgatory

The doctrine of purgatory is an insult to Jesus and the finished work that He did on the cross to pay for the sins of the whole world. If we sin He is faithful to forgive us our sins if we confess them to Him. Scripture says that there is now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus. Jesus either paid for all sins past, present, and future or He paid for none of them. Scripture teaches no other doctrine.

A few of the many other heresies:
In much of the third world Catholicism has been integrated with pagan witchcraft and no major correction is coming from Rome. Yet the Vatican rails against those who teach true Christianity to those doing such things.
The scapular is worn by some Catholics who believe that salvation can come from something they hang around their neck.
Expecting power by using Holy water, medals, holy pictures and objects blessed by a priest is simply belief in the occult. It simply is witchcraft.
Many Catholic churches allow gambling and drinking on the church premises to raise funds.
The Pope as the vicar of Christ is not scriptural and many Popes have been anti-Christ. Peter was not the first Pope. The first real Pope was Leo 1st about 400 years later. Peter was an apostle to the Jews. Paul was the apostle to the gentiles from which most post first century Christianity descended.
The former Pope called Moslems brothers, kissed the Koran and said that Moslems are on a path to God. He had a close friendship with the top leader of Eastern Pagan religion and said they were on the same path. He told Catholics that salvation of the earth comes through Mary. Further, he warned Catholics about the dangers of Christian evangelicals that teach the Bible. He welcomed non believers in Christ as brothers but did not rescind the one hundred anathema's made by the Catholic Church against all Protestant believers. (In catholic theology the anathema's mean all Protestants will go to Hell. The anathema's came from a infallible papal decree so it can never be rescinded. Thus, the only hope of salvation for Protestants within the Catholic theology is for Protestants to return to the Catholic Church). This is not Christian leadership it is the type of anti-Christ leadership that Paul warned true Christians to beware of but this church wants to declare this Pope a saint. The present pope is apparently is no wiser about salvation theology he seems to think that all people of good will are saved and many religions like Islam worship the same God as Christians even though Islam doctrine says that God has no Son. Some Catholics are now calling him an anti-pope because some of his views conflict with the views of other infallible popes. Oh, the Joy of blind Religion!
The Catholic Church has a wretched history and continues countless heretical teachings. Read "The Women Rides the Beast" by Dave Hunt for detailed information on the history and practices of this church in apostasy.

The bottom line about Roman Catholicism

The Roman Catholic Church as an institution is mostly apostate. Only each individual Catholic can truly know if they are trusting in Jesus as He is define in the Bible for their salvation or if they are just trusting in a false hope of following Catholic doctrine to save them. The doctrines of the Catholic Church are convoluted and their doctrine of salvation is contrary to the clear teaching of New Testament teaching. The majority that claim to be Catholics do not even practice Catholicism.

Some in this church have found the path to salvation and have been born of the Holy Spirit but many of these are not producing the fruit that they should. The good works they think they do in many cases are nothing more than empty rituals and practices contrary to God's will. Many are building on the house of God with straw. After the rapture of true believers, what is left of the Roman Catholic Church will become the head of the great harlot religious system that will bring in the Antichrist and his false prophet. The majority of this church (Thyatira in the book of Revelation) will be tried by fire in the great tribulation (the real purgatory for Catholics).

Commendations:

+ Catholic charities
+ They preserved the scriptures
+ Church discipline
+ Strong community orientation
+ Social Programs
+ Hates abortion
+ Teaches against the faithless practice of birth control
+ They still teach some of the essential doctrines of the faith
+ Strong school system that still teaches moral absolutes
+ Believes scriptures are God inspired

The Orthodox Catholic Churches

These churches have about one hundred fifty million followers.

This church is much the same as the Roman Catholics although some of the Roman Catholic heresies are not taught. However, they have added heresies of their own. They teach that members are saved by the teachings and traditions of the church, by the sacraments of the church, and through praying to icons. The essential doctrine of being saved by faith is not taught. This institutional church is mostly apostate and the church in general has done few good works on the earth. I doubt if there is a significant number of true Christians within the Orthodox Catholic Church.

I believe this is Jesus' message to the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Catholic Church.

Rev 2:18 And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like a flame of fire, and his feet are like unto burnished brass:
19 I know thy works, and thy love and faith and ministry and patience, and that thy last works are more than the first.
20 But I have this against thee, that thou sufferest the woman Jezebel, who calleth herself a prophetess; and she teacheth and seduceth my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed to idols.
21 And I gave her time that she should repent; and she willeth not to repent of her fornication.
22 Behold, I cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of her works.
23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he that searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto each one of you according to your works.
24 But to you I say, to the rest that are in Thyatira, as many as have not this teaching, who know not the deep things of Satan, as they are wont to say; I cast upon you none other burden.
25 Nevertheless that which ye have, hold fast till I come.
26 And he that overcometh, and he that keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give authority over the nations:
27 and he shall rule them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of the potter are broken to shivers; as I also have received of my Father:
28 and I will give him the morning star.
29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.

for additional references check my scripture references and see: "all the letters of Paul in the New Testament"

The Protestants

There are about eight hundred million others that say they are Christians. Most of these call themselves Protestants, although some of those labeled as Protestants are demonic cults. The majority of all Protestants are in old mainline liberal and reformed denominations or they are in evangelical Baptist, Pentecostal and independent Bible churches..

The overwhelming majority of the people in the liberal Protestant denominations have never had a born again experience nor do their lives reflect that God is indwelling them. Most of them do not regularly fellowship with other believers or attend services. Many that do attend services are Sunday Christians. There is no fellowship with Jesus or each other outside the formal church service.

For the most part their Christianity is cultural and the relationship they have with God is superficial. Many believe in humanism, socialism, evolution and the basic goodness of man rather than the truths the scriptures teach. Few people in the liberal denominations know the essentials of their own faith. Many believe that all religions lead to God.

(Within the Protestants there are about four hundred million Evangelical and Pentecostal Protestants that have for the most part kept the true faith. The things listed in the paragraph below should not apply to them. I write about their own unique problems in a later paragraph.)

Problems:
Most believe that people are saved into the church through infant baptism, contrary to scripture
Some believe that people are saved by the ritual of baptism
Many have retained much of the heretical doctrines of the Catholics
Most lord the clergy over the laity
Some do away with the inspiration and infallibility of scripture
Some put men under the authority of women contrary to scriptures
Some condone abortion, all condone birth control
Many have no salvation message and preach only a social gospel
Too many churches put a picture of a Norwegian on their wall and call him Jesus
Many think they are Christians because that is their tradition and culture
Some think that Christianity is just one of many ways to God
Some churches teach humanism instead of the teachings of Christ
Some teach a message of materialism
Some do not believe that Jesus was God
Some think that Christ is a consciousness and Jesus will not return physically (unity)
Some teach that man is a perfect spirit and all we see is an illusion (Christian Science)
Some Christian identity cults make Jesus a lesser God. Mormons and Jehovah witnesses
Most are amillennial and do not teach the imminent return of Christ
Some teach doctrines of satanic psychology as truth
Some are state supported churches that are spiritually dead
Most churches have no discipline or accountability for their membership
Some teach that the Church has replaced Israel and allegorize or spiritualize prophetic scripture
Some let flagrant sinners lead the flock

Commendations:
+ Some are community orientated
+ Some have Christian education
+ Many still believe in the infallibility of scripture
+ Most still confess most of the essential doctrines of the faith
+ Some support missionaries
+ Some have good youth and social programs

I believe the message from Jesus to these churches is:

Rev 3:1 ¶ And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars: I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and thou art dead.
2 Be thou watchful, and establish the things that remain, which were ready to die: for I have {1} found no works of thine perfected before my God. {1) Many ancient authorities read not found thy works}
3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and didst hear; and keep it, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
4 But thou hast a few names in Sardis that did not defile their garments: and they shall walk with me in white; for they are worthy.
5 He that overcometh shall thus be arrayed in white garments; and I will in no wise blot his name out of the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.

Rev 3:14¶ And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God:
15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So because thou art lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spew thee out of my mouth.
17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and have gotten riches, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art the wretched one and miserable and poor and blind and naked:
18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold refined by fire, that thou mayest become rich; and white garments, that thou mayest clothe thyself, and that the shame of thy nakedness be not made manifest; and eyesalve to anoint thine eyes, that thou mayest see.
19 As many as I love, I reprove and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21 He that overcometh, I will give to him to sit down with me in my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father in his throne.
22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.

The non Pentecostal Evangelicals

Many of the non Pentecostal Evangelicals have had a true born again experience and those that really believe are part of the one true Church. Some of the following problems may not qualify as true apostasy from the faith but they deviate from the truths of true biblical Christianity because they add doctrines of men or legalism.

Problems:
Many Evangelicals place too much emphasis on self reliance instead of relying on the Holy Spirit
Success seminars are taught on some church properties as if they were biblical doctrine
Many have introduced psychotherapy and its underlying psychologies in their counseling programs and replaced Godly counsel with satanic theories
Some who call themselves evangelicals still embrace the mainline theology that the Church fulfills the promises that were given to natural Israel without condition. They say there is no future Kingdom on earth from Jerusalem contrary to many scripture passages that say there is a restoration on earth for natural Israel.
Some have little or no church discipline
Some have occult-like inner healing and birthing seminars
Some compromise essentials of the Christian faith for unity among denominations
Many pastors job-shop for materialistic or prestigious positions or run away from problems and divorce the flock they were called to serve
Many flocks divorce the elder of their church over petty squabbles
The secondary leadership in the church too often is picked because of their position in the community or the size of their bank account
Some worship the idol of money and care more about their building programs than evangelism of the lost
Many churches put a picture of a Norwegian on the wall and call him Jesus
Most large churches have a country club mentality. They have wonderful fellowship and they have many programs for those in the club but they do little about improving the community they live in either spiritually or physically
Most have now replaced real Bible study with study of quarterly magazines about Bible passages and applications for living
Many preach that all who drink any alcoholic beverages are sinning. Some even will not allow into their membership or will remove from their membership those who profess to use alcohol. They ignore or spin the fact that the Savior was called a wine bibber because He drank wine and that Paul told Timothy to drink a little wine for his health. They also ignore the Old Testament scripture that says wine was given to make the heart glad. Common sense and logic indicates that the scripture would not speak of drinking wine in excess and choosing elders that do not drink too much wine if drinking fermented wine was not in the permissive will of God under moderation. The practice of using fermented wine was in the early church and is still is in most Christian denominations who have not bought into this man-made legalism. Those in this group that say the wine addressed was actually unfermented grape juice are not being logical about the context of these scripture passages. Some just need to stop repeating doctrines that they swallowed from legalistic teachers and study the context of all the passages themselves. Alcohol abuse is a sin but the Church needs to be truthful and credible and should not unduly put its members on guilt trips. They should not label people as sinners who in faith are generally practicing something that in moderation actually could be a benefit to their health
Some have created lists of actions of the flesh that they say are sinful such as drinking, smoking, dancing, watching movies or TV or even listening to certain Christian music. Some do not even allow musical instruments in church but these same churches ignore actions of the flesh like gluttony, gossip and judging everyone as sinners who have the greater faith to believe that God does not abide by their list of man made forbidden activities
Many, to be all inclusive and to reach non-believers, have made their worship service on Sunday to be a time to entertainment rather than a time to feed the flock, worship God and to provide the message of the only way to salvation
Some apply the tithe system of government for Israel to the Church. They teach that Christians are required to tithe to their church as if this is New Testament truth. It is not! There is not a word about tithing in New Testament instruction to the Church but there is teaching about cheerful free will giving. If you want to teach it as an example-fine-but what many fail to understand is that God gave individuals in the Church the gift of giving and most Christian funding is funded by such individuals. It is a well known fact that teaching on tithing does not have a long term impact on the amount of giving in the Church. This teaching unduly puts guilt and burdens on the poor that God never intended. It also tells the rich that it is in God's will for them to use 90 percent for themselves and their worldly living style when they should and could give much more. When the Church in Jerusalem was in poverty, did the members tithe or did funds come from others moved by the Holy Spirit to give? When people on assistance are given exactly what they need to live on by charities or by government through the donations and taxes that comes from others, should the church then be robbing the donors and the poor by telling them to give ten percent of these funds to their church organization? I can build a better case from scripture that the Church itself should be giving a tithe of its income to its needy members than the needy giving a tithe to their church. If you still insist on teaching people to tithe as Israel did, you also should know Israel had three tithes and following that example will require your members to give about 23 percent of their increase not 10 percent. (Good luck!)
Many do not fully understand that the Christians are the temple of God. Their building is a building, not a holy sanctuary. The people who make up the Church are the holy sanctuary. There is no special grace for those who come to the front of the building to pray. This practice is fine as a testimony that one has responded to a call to be saved, to follow a church ordinance or to be prayed with by an elder, but God is not anymore present in the front of the building than He is anywhere else. God's sanctuary is in His people and He is not more present in the front of any building or near the preacher.
Many have now bought into the seeker-friendly church growth movement. They knowingly or unknowingly use paraphrases of the Bible that sometimes twists scripture. They do not teach a salvation message on Sunday. The leadership in general sees the Church ruling on earth before the return of Christ and they tell their people that studying future Bible prophecy is a distraction
Many are embracing the Emergent or Emerging Church movement. This movement is redefining the Bible and leading many into mysticism.

Compromising the Truth
The undiluted preaching from God's Word and an authoritative stand on truth seem to be on the decline. What we're seeing instead is a broadening of the gospel, a redefining of what it means to be a Christian, and a growing emphasis on inclusion and tolerance of those that do not hold to the biblical doctrine of Christ. Ecumenism has come to mean "reducing all elements of faith to the lowest common denominator. God's Word is neglected, experience is valued above truth, a false and selfish "faith" is promoted, and sound doctrine and correction are despised as "divisive" and "unloving."

Ignoring the Scriptures, numerous evangelical leaders today claim that a concern for doctrine causes division and therefore should be avoided for the sake of love and unity among the brethren. The Scriptures, however, couldn't be more specific in its opposition to such a teaching.

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. [Romans 16:17-18]

Divisions are created by teachings that are contrary to sound doctrine. Unity in the faith is impossible without the doctrine of Christ. Without such a foundation we have no basis for the faith, for the gospel, for knowing Jesus, or for knowing anything pertinent to the Truth.

"Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son" [2 John 1:9].

The glittering terminology of ecumenical is seen, on close examination, to be as hollow as a soap bubble and just as slippery and hard to hold onto. Where is the "common ground" between belief and unbelief? A believer cannot ignore the "major theological differences" between him and an unbeliever. Instead, he should be cutting through those differences with the Sword of the Word to win the unbeliever to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I cannot agree to ignore an unbeliever's condition without, by that very act, compromising my beliefs. For my beliefs include the Great Commission, which requires me to tell the world of the gospel of Jesus.

Modern Christian Ecumenical Movements
Even a cursory review of what has taken place in the Church during the last 25 years will reveal a fierce underming of the faith. Precisely as the Bible warns, today's most effective enemies of Christ are those who claim to be Christians and call mankind not just to any old false religion but to a counterfeit Christianity.

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. - 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4

The Christian Response to Ecumenism
Nineteenth-century preacher Charles Spurgeon was known for taking unpopular positions as he ministered God's Word, and faced the same arguments confronting many Bible teachers today. His response to the seductive power of compromise for popularity's sake was especially poignant: "What have you and I to do with maintaining our influence and position at the expense of truth? It is never right to do a little wrong to obtain the greatest possible good ... Your duty is to do the right: consequences are with God."

How, you might ask, can a Bible-believing church accept many of teachings held up today? Simple. Few read the Bible any more. Far too many people simply go along with whatever they are told as biblical, with no particular interest in checking it out for themselves. For those whom the Lord equips, He sets forth an essential for discernment:

"...If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." [John 8:31-32]

For the sake of our growth in the faith and our development of discernment, we must "hold to" the teachings of God's word. "Hold to," or "continue" (KJV) means to submit to Christ's teachings, to abide in them (i.e., to let our mental, physical and spiritual life be governed by them), and to remain in them, becoming steadfast in the faith. If we do this, then we are His disciples, we will know the truth, and will be set free by the truth.

How many times have you heard that somebody was "causing division in the church?" Well, maybe they were supposed to! After all, there are two things that cause division according to the Bible: truth and error.
Haven't you heard the scripture,

"Do you suppose I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, rather division!"

That's right! Jesus said that...

"from now on five members in one household will be divided three against two, and two against three" (Luke 12:51-52).

Hard words to hear! Yet, harder to accept. But, that's what Jesus said and is preserved in the Holy Scriptures. He said that whole families would be divided over Him. And there are many occasions in the New Testament when whole assemblies of people were divided because of Jesus (John 7:43, 9:16, 10:19, Acts 23:6-7).

People who love the truth will divide from people who love lies.
Today, when there are so many who are professing religion, is it any wonder that some of the deepest truths in the Bible - repentance, faith, holiness, etc. - are also some of the greatest objects of debate in the Church. It must be said that those who truly want to know God's views on these great pillars of Christian doctrine, will appear to be divisive - and rightly so, in an age when the great gospel message of salvation can be reduced to such a sugar-coated, bakery-item as, "God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life!"

Can ecumenists by uniting, set the standards for the rest of the world? "Who's kingdom is the earth anyway?" This worldly kingdom belongs to Satan until Jesus Christ returns. Jesus said in John 18:36,

"My kingdom belongs not to this world..."

He said he did not come to bring peace, but rather division.

Division that comes from the proclaiming of the truth will usually include some intense reaction and opposition, but it will also produce good fruit and the advancement of God's kingdom (not to mention the conversion of souls.)

The Scripture is unmistakably clear: the primary attribute by which God wants to be known is holiness--He is totally separate from all that is sinful or defiled. Fifty-five times God refers to Himself in Scripture as the "Holy One." Fifty-nine times He is called or described as being holy. There are only forty-three times where God is said to love or that He Himself is love. Interestingly enough, the word "holy" (or a form of it) occurs 651 times in Scripture. The word "love" (or a related form) whether human or divine is mentioned only 546 times. Although no attribute of God is mentioned more frequently in the Bible than that of holiness, there is perhaps no other characteristic so ignored and misunderstood as this one. Many seem to view holiness and love as being contradictory: holiness is too negative and divisive while love seems to be positive and accepting. But contrary to God's nature is the notion that love must tolerate or even refuse to expose error. God's love is compatible with His holiness. As believers follow the command to imitate their God (Eph. 5:1), they are not free to pick and choose which characteristics to copy. The modern day definition of love largely sets aside God's demand to His children,

"Be ye holy for I am holy" (Lev. 11:44; 1 Pet. 1:15,16).

Holiness is the hub of the wheel from which all other divine attributes radiate. Anything that is genuinely at the heart of God should primarily reflect that same characteristic of holiness. With the blatant rejection of the Bible doctrine of separation (which finds its foundation in the holiness of God), Promise Keepers cannot be legitimately considered "at the very heart of God." Whenever a movement becomes engrossed in compromise with error, it ceases to reflect that core attribute which God has chosen as His name (Isa. 57:15).

Still some would try to ignore the wrong of compromising methods and point out only the good that is seen. Some would even say that those who dare criticize a movement (as PK) which has enjoyed such phenomenal success are being nit- picky. If there can be an agreement on the "major" doctrines of Scripture, then why not get on the bandwagon of a good cause? To this Albert Dager makes the following remarks:

"The evidence of God at work is not outward results, but conformity to Scripture, which in turn results in outward change. Outward change without conformity to Scripture is merely human righteousness. Change of mind does not always equate to change of heart. A genuine change of heart results in the holding of Scripture in high esteem. Nor does it distinguish between so called `essential doctrine' and `secondary doctrine' ... (2 Tim. 3:14- 17)... When the Holy Spirit says that all Scripture is given for instruction in righteousness, He isn't speaking only of the so-called `Big Five' doctrines the ecumenists are claiming as reason for unity. He means all of Scripture itself is the essential doctrine of the Faith" (Media Spotlight Special Report, p. 14).

He then continues with these comments:

"The end does not justify the means. The proper focus must be on the means itself, as well as on the end. . . Results are not the final arbiter of truth; one's pious demeanor is not the final arbiter of truth; one's ability to call fire down from heaven is not the final arbiter of truth. God's Word is the only and final arbiter of truth" (Ibid.).

Behold the emergence of the ecumenical apostate church...
the bride of Antichrist!
The truth offends those who don't want to hear it. Yet to speak anything less is to trifle with the eternal destiny of souls. Ecumenism's promise of "unity" is tempting, but it denies Christ and paves the way for the Antichrist and his new world religion. It is a unification that will ultimately lead to destruction.

True unity is not sought by pretending that there are no differences, as modern ecumenists have done, but by recognizing and respecting those differences, while focusing on the great orthodox truths all Christians share. Articulated in the classic confessions and creeds, it embraces such fundamentals as the Virgin birth, the deity of Christ, the Atonement, the Resurrection, the authority of Scripture, and the Second Coming.

Man-made unity is not what God desires. He wants a holy people. Many Christians believe that unity in itself will bring about a holy revival. But unity cannot bring holiness, only holiness can bring about true unity. For when God's people start seeking to live, worship and pray according to the Holy Word of God, then God Himself will answer Jesus' prayer and make those who seek Him, truly "one!" THEN God will unite the hearts of those who love Him, and hate sin and error, and He will truly shine forth from the midst of such a people - the true people of God!

The unification of the various national identities, races, and religions can only be achieved through the eradication of sin. That means only through the Lord Jesus Christ can we become perfectly one. The other avenue to unite people, the program of the Antichrist, will only be accomplished temporarily through deception. There is great emphasis in the church today on uniting professing Christians of all denominations and beliefs. The message is that we're not so different after all... we can work together. 2nd Corinthians 6:14-17 forbids this!

Setting aside theological differences, we can help each other in the things we all agree upon. That effort is commonly referred to as "ecumenism," which is defined as "the organized attempt to bring about the cooperation and unity of all believers in Christ."

The recent Catholic-Evangelical accord is an example of such compromise. In this accord, Evangelicals compromised essential doctrines such as justification by faith alone and the sufficiency of Scripture in order to unite with Roman Catholics on issues such as abortion and school prayer.

NOTE: All Scriptures are quoted only from the trustworthy and inspired King James Bible! The perverted Ecumenical Movement was given birth to by modern corrupt mistranslated Bibles; like the Living Bible, Good News for Modern Man, the New King James Bible, the English Standard Version and the New International Version. Woe unto them who have corrupted God's Words for greedy gain! The NIV2011 will be evil and ecumenical, just as is the 1984 NIV. The Homosexual Community is Excited About the Upcoming NIV 2011 Perversion of the Bible! That's tells you everything right there!

Compromising the Truth

The undiluted preaching from God's Word and an authoritative stand on truth seem to be on the decline. What we're seeing instead is a broadening of the gospel, a redefining of what it means to be a Christian, and a growing emphasis on inclusion and tolerance.

Romans 16:17, Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.”

Divisions are created by teachings that are contrary to sound doctrine.

2nd John 1:9, “Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.”

Unity in the faith is impossible without the doctrine of Christ. Without such a foundation we have no basis for the faith, for the gospel, for knowing Jesus, or for knowing anything pertinent to the Truth.

Even a cursory review of what has taken place in the Church during the last 25 years will reveal a fierce undermining of the faith. Precisely as the Bible warns (Mt. 7:21-23; 24:4,11,24; 2 Thessalonians 2:3; etc.), today's most effective enemies of Christ are those who claim to be Christians and call mankind not just to any old false religion but to a counterfeit Christianity.
(ECT) Evangelicals and Catholics Together

On March 29, 1994, leading evangelicals and Catholics signed a joint declaration, "Evangelicals and Catholics Together: The Christian Mission in the 3rd. Millennium." Contained within the document, which attempts to bring ecumenical unity, are some seriously compromising agreements regarding proselytizing and doctrinal distinctions.

The 25-page document, originated by Chuck Colson and Catholic social critic Richard John Neuhaus, was signed by 40 noted evangelical and Catholic leaders including Pat Robertson, heads of the Home Mission Board and Christian Life Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, Bill Bright - founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, Mark Noll of Wheaton University, Os Guinness, Jesse Miranda (Assemblies of God), Richard Mauw (President , Fuller Seminary), J.I. Packer and Herbert Schlossberg.

It called for Catholic and evangelical cooperation on social and cultural issues where both traditions share common goals, one example being the fight against abortion. The accord also stressed mutual allegiance to the Apostles' Creed, world evangelism, justification "by grace through faith because of Christ," and encouraged "civil" discourse over doctrinal differences.

Chuck Colson has been fervently criticized for his part in this accord and in his defense I can only say he has a desire to see Christ's high priestly prayer (John 17) maintained. He said in his publication, Jubilee, "All true Christians are one in Christ. That has to be. That isn't just a theological proposition. That is a statement of ultimate reality, because God has created us all, and those He has regenerated and called to Himself all belong to the same, one God. Disunity is a condition that God does not want; it defies what God has done. Therefore it is an affirmative duty on the part of every Christian to work for unity among true believers, never compromising truth, of course, but always to work for unity.

The challenge, as I see it, for Mr. Colson and others working toward true Biblical unity of the church is the dilution of their own faith. While I believe there are most likely "born-again" saved people in the Catholic Church whose faith in Christ transcends the teachings and doctrines of the Church, there is a danger of losing sight of the fact that the Catholic Church promises salvation apart from the finished work of Christ on the cross.

The distinction is not in the common words they use, but in the definitions of those same words. While Catholics and non-Catholics may agree with the Apostles' Creed, they don't necessarily share the meaning. While Catholics may say they agree with justification "by grace through faith because of Christ," their actions sometimes shows otherwise. While "civil" discourse over doctrinal differences may be good, if that civility reduces the impact of world evangelism and bringing the lost to Christ (including non-saved Catholics), it does nothing to advance Christ's prayer for unity and hinders the responsibility of believers to spread the gospel throughout the world.

Subsequent Developments

Colson and other signers later agreed to a five-point statement clarifying Protestant distinctives that were not clear in ECT. Critics claimed that the statement blurs doctrinal lines on key issues, including salvation by faith alone. John MacArthur, pastor of the independent Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, told "Christianity Today" magazine his greatest concern was the apparent disregard for "evangelical doctrinal distinctives."

The new statement says cooperation between evangelicals and "evangelically committed Roman Catholics" on common concerns is no endorsement of the Roman Catholic "church system" or "doctrinal distinctives." It affirms the Protestant understanding of salvation and legitimate evangelism efforts.

Excerpts of the follow-up agreement include:

"We understand the statement that 'we are justified by grace through faith because of Christ,' in terms of the substitutionary atonement and imputed righteousness of Christ, leading to full assurance of eternal salvation; we seek to testify in all circumstances and contexts to this, the historic Protestant understanding of salvation by faith alone (sola fide).

"While we view all who profess to be Christian--Protestant and Catholic and Orthodox--with charity and hope, our confidence that anyone is truly a brother and sister in Christ depends not only on the content of his or her confession but on our perceiving signs of regeneration in his or her life.

"Though we reject proselytizing as ECT defines it (that is, 'sheep-stealing' for denominational aggrandizement), we hold that evangelism and church planting are always legitimate, whatever forms of church life are present already."

In November '97, a group of evangelicals and Catholics led by Charles Colson and Father Richard John Neuhaus released a statement, "The Gift of Salvation," in which they say together, "We understand that what we here affirm is in agreement with what the Reformation traditions have meant by justification by faith alone." The statement says, "We agree that justification is not earned by any good works or merits of our own; it is entirely God's gift, conferred through the Father's sheer graciousness, out of the love that He bears us in His Son, who suffered on our behalf and rose from the dead for our justification."

Only 35 short years ago Roman Catholicism was included among the "modern Cults" about which Harold Lindsell warned his students in a course by that name at Fuller. Today, in spite of its false gospel of works and ritual which millions of martyrs faithfully opposed to the death, Catholicism is embraced by our most trusted evangelical leaders.
While ECT and later agreements may allow some "convergence and cooperation" between evangelicals and Catholics in many public tasks, there remains some important differences including "the meaning of baptismal regeneration, the Eucharist ... diverse understandings of merit, reward, purgatory, and indulgences; Marian devotion and the assistance of the saints in the lives of salvation..."

One often hears the naive expression, especially in justifying the new ecumenical acceptance of Roman Catholics as Christians, "I embrace all those as brethren who 'love Jesus' and 'name the name of Christ.'" Yet many cultists profess to love Jesus and almost all "name the name of Christ." One must discern what is meant by such words. The gospel of God's grace is denied by every cult and false religion, including Roman Catholicism, where infant baptism removes original sin and makes one a child of God, salvation is in the church and its sacraments, redemption is an ongoing process of perpetually offering the body and blood of Christ upon its altars, and good works merit acceptance with God.
You can't believe two contradictory propositions at the same time!

You can't believe Christ obtained redemption through His blood and also believe redemption is being accomplished through Catholic liturgy.
You can't believe salvation is by faith and "not of works" and at the same time believe that good works earn salvation.

Pro-Life Movement

While the founders of Operation Rescue may have intended only to save the lives of the helpless children that are destroyed through abortion, they now find themselves serving an entirely different purpose.

"I have never seen such an instrument for ecumenism as Operation Rescue is," said Catholic priest Patrick Malone, head of St. Mary Catholic Parish just outside Wichita. Malone explained that Operation Rescue "has a very strong evangelical flavor nationwide, but the experience here has been that the operations break down barriers that have separated churches as we stand for the common cause of the unborn child." Recognizing that the movement offers a tremendous opportunity to sweep millions of Protestants under the guidance of the papacy, Catholic leaders are now encouraging Roman Catholics to join Operation Rescue and shape its future direction. It's already working. said Malone, "People I've demonstrated with, attended rallies with and spent time in jail with--the evangelicals and others--apologized again and again to me" for the views they had held of the Catholic Church.

At Indianapolis 1990, Catholic priest Michael Scanlan gave a testimony about being arrested during an Operation Rescue demonstration. He spoke of the close fellowship between Catholics and Protestants in the jail, and said many of the Protestants attended the masses which were held there. He also said that after these ecumenical experiences, some Protestants began reciting the rosary during Operation Rescue demonstrations.
Freemasonry

Freemasonry is the largest international secret society in the world, with more than 6 million members. It is an all-male organization whose principles are explained as "brotherly love, relief and truth." "What makes Masonry so influential is the fact that of its many millions of members so many occupy leadership positions around the world. In our own country there is nearly always a significant percentage of Masons on the White House staff and in the Cobinet, Senate, Congress, Supreme Court, and Pentagon, as well as in top business management." (Dave Hunt, Global Peace and the Rise of the Antichrist, pp. 158-59.)

Freemasonry secretly fosters ecumenism and quietly prepares its members to accept and be part of the coming new world order. Freemasonry promotes the idea that there are many ways to God in contrast to what Jesus said,

John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

In Carl Claudy's book, "Introduction to Freemasonry" (1931), he writes, "In his private petitions a man may petition God or Jehovah, Allah or Buddha, Mohammed or Jesus; he may call upon the God of Israel or the Great First Cause. In the Masonic Lodge he hears petition to the Great architect of the Universes, finding his own deity under that name. A hundred paths may wind upward around a mountain; at the top they meet." This tolerance of all religions is further clarified, "Masonry does not specify any God of any creed; she requires merely that you believe in some Deity, give him what name you will ... any god will do ..." Albert Pike, former Supreme Pontiff of Universal Freemasonry, likewise exults: "Masonry [is that religion] around whose altars the Christian, the Hebrew, the Moslem, the Brahman [Hindu], the followers of Confucius and Zoroaster, can assemble as brethren and unite in prayer..." (Albert Pike, Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry (Charleston, SC, The Supreme Council of the 33rd Degree for the Southern Jurisdiction of the United Stated, 1906), pg. 226.)

Consider this quote from a more contemporary Masonic thinking, taken from the current manual of instruction used by Masons in the state of Kentucky (Kentucky Monitor by Henry Pirtle, pg. 95): "Masonry makes no profession of Christianity ... but looks forward to the time when the labor of our ancient brethren shall be symbolized by the erection of a spiritual temple ... in which there shall be but one altar and one worship; one common altar of Masonry on which the Veda, Shastras, Sade, Zend-Avesta, Koran, and Holy Bible shall lie untouched by sacrilegious hands, and at whose shrine the Hindu, the Persian, the Assyrian, The Chaldean, The Egyptian, the Chinese, The Mohammedan, the Jew, and the Christian may kneel and with one united voice celebrate the praises of the Supreme Architect of the Universe."

Masonry clearly teaches salvation through all religions, whereas the Bible teaches there is salvation in only one name under Heaven - the name of Jesus (Acts 4:12). Masonry focuses on "The Great Architect of the Universe" who can be defined any way the worshipper wants to define him. (Dr. David R. Reagan, "Should A Christian Be A Mason?," Bible Prophecy Insights, No. 25, November 1992.)

The New Age Movement

One of the major goals of the New Age Movement is to create a Universal Religious System with all historic doctrinal distinctions removed. It is so dangerous because it's so widespread infiltrating every aspect of our lives in last few years. They believe they are chosen to usher in Peace, Love and Brotherhood under the leadership of a personality that they call the Christ and claim he is alive today awaiting his entrance to the world stage at any moment.

It is found in the Women's Movement, the Peace Movement, and the Ecological Movement. It is not organized with one single leader but rather happens out of people's lives. It is a loose network of thousands of groups with a common ingredient of Hindu religion and a common aversion to traditional Christianity and is a movement that is rapidly replacing Judeo-Christian values with new values.

Instead of destroying religion, they are figuring out how to use it for their own means. President Bill Clinton recently said, "We are redefining in practical terms the immutable ideals that have guided us from the beginning." It's not too difficult to see what ideals he is talking about - the moral commandments put forth in the Bible. Thus, this popular president has possibly done more in the past few years to erode values such as honesty, integrity, purity and faithfulness than anyone in recent history.

Al Gore's Unsaved Views

Vice-President Al Gore co-opts religion for his pagan goals, writing, "The richness and diversity of our religious tradition throughout history is a spiritual resource long ignored by people of faith, who are often afraid to open their minds to teachings first offered outside their own system of belief. But the emergence of a civilization in which knowledge moves freely and almost instantaneously through the world has ... spurred a renewed investigation of the wisdom distilled by all faiths. This pan religious perspective may prove especially important where our global civilization's responsibility for the earth is concerned." (Earth in the Balance; Ecology and the Human Spirit, pp. 258-259)

This dangerous new, counterfeit spirituality is putting on a righteous face and emerging as the answer for an American society gone violently and perversely mad. What the social engineers need is something watered down that sounds religious, something mystical and full of mystery that makes everybody feel really devout, and certainly something that is politically correct, yet fulfills everybody's yearning to be at peace with God.

"In the early seventies, ten years before the term "New Age" appeared, Brooks Alexander, founder and director of Spiritual Counterfeit Projects, wrote: "The Bible gives us a clear, if unpleasant picture: in the last days of history as we know it, our race will be brought together in a common expression of cosmic humanism. This coming great world religion will offer itself to us as the ancient wisdom and hidden truth underlying all the religious forms of history."" (Tal Brooke, When The World Will Be As One, pg. 237.)

Baha'i World Faith

The Baha'i World Faith claims to be a religion of unique relevance to the modern world. Its emphasis upon rationalism, human rights, international peace, education, equality of the sexes, and the eradication of all forms of prejudice gives the Baha'i Faith a very broad base of appeal. The Baha'i cry for one world religion appeals to the ecumenical spirit of the age, especially in light of the continuing insistence that Baha'is are in perfect harmony with the Christian Faith.

The doctrine of Divine Manifestations is the central plank of Baha'i theology. Through this doctrine Baha'is are able to take seemingly amiable positions toward members of the major world religions, for each of their founders were manifestations of God and thus each religion has a measure of truth. On the same premise Baha'is draw converts from other religions, for, they insist, the other religions were for other ages while the religion of Baha'u'llah is for today. To follow it in no way will conflict with one's native faith, for there is truly only one faith in mankind's history, best represented now by the Baha'is.

Though the recognized Divine Manifestations represent just about every conceivable world view (Monotheism through Moses and Jesus, polytheism through Krisna, Agnosticism through Buddah, and dualism through Zoroaster), Baha'is insist that they are actually united in purpose and teaching. The spiritually initiated see beyond the apparent differences. In fact, Baha'u'llah warned that anyone who saw even the slightest possible difference between their words and messages would be guilty of disbelieving and repudiating God.

Pop-Psychology

The infiltration of psychology into the church has also strengthened the trend toward ecumenism. Psychology plays a major ecumenical role by providing common faith, language and ritual for everyone from atheists, cultists and occultists to Roman Catholics and evangelicals. Most Christian radio stations are saturated with Christian psychology programs, yet the vast majority of listeners to these programs know very little about the doctrine or church affiliation of the men they listen to. These men are accepted as authorities on Christian living simply because they say they are Christians and believe the Bible. These men unify Christians, not on the basis of Scripture but on their psychological influence which is trans-doctrinal.

Promise Keepers

What could be wrong with Christian men uniting to become more godly? What could be wrong with men assuming leadership in marriage? What could be wrong with promoting the virtues of sexual integrity, parental responsibility and church devotion?

Well, of course, there is everything right and nothing wrong with becoming more godly, assuming leadership, sexual integrity, etc . There is a fundamental problem, however, with the Promise Keepers' approach to the Gospel and to the way godliness is achieved in the life of a believer. It is an approach that has attracted Catholics and Mormons as well.

Promise Keepers is committed to reaching across denominational barriers in an effort to unite men. And they have been successful in doing that. Promise Keepers supporters and sponsors include Evangelicals, Catholics, Lutherans, Presbyterians, Methodists, Episcopalians, Charismatics, Catholics, Mormons and others. These groups have been divided by major doctrinal differences for many years. But now these differences are being dropped for the sake of unity. The very fact that both the Roman Catholic and Mormon churches have officially declared that they find no conflict between Promise Keepers teaching and their own doctrines ought to tell you that something is seriously wrong. This seems to be an ecumenicalism of proportions never experienced since the Reformation.

There have been single issues, such as abortion, pornography, and prohibition, that have drawn a spectrum of churches together, but none have reached the popularity and ecumenicalism of the Promise Keepers. Promise Keepers is a burgeoning force in American Christianity. With the goal of Point Men in every church, one cannot ignore its influence. Beneath the emotional hype, camaraderie, enthusiastic speakers, songs, and cheers, Promise Keepers champions a psycho-spiritual, ecumenical and political agenda.

Those who get involved with Promise Keepers are trained in a mixture of humanistic psychology and corrupt Christianity. Men attending a massive 1993 Promise Keepers conference were given complimentary copies of The Masculine Journey: Understanding the Six Stages of Manhood by psychotherapist Robert Hicks. In a review of this book, T.A. McMahon notes:

"The book, written to help 'provide directions for a man's life so that he doesn't get lost along the way,' is mainly psychologically biased conjecture centering around six Hebrew words. In chapter after chapter, subjective insights into manhood are offered through quotes by a host of secular authors with a psychological bent, including Carl Jung, inner-healing therapist Leanne Payne, transpersonal psychiatrist/spiritualist Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, and Sam Keen, former theologian in residence at Esalen, the New Age/Eastern mystical therapeutic center south of San Francisco.

The Promise Keepers' movement is part of an ecumenical trend of down-playing doctrine for unity that puts aside essential theological issues in order to promote a unity which is not biblical unity. Are false doctrines being addressed? Are the people in these churches challenged to flee their false religious systems? The answer is "No." Key foundational issues have been dropped, all for the sake of supposed unity.

The men who are reached through this ministry are not necessarily brought into sound New Testament churches and grounded in the truth. They are not being taught to keep themselves pure from apostasy and heresy. They are not being trained in discerning false gospels from the true. Rather they will be instructed in unscriptural ecumenism as they are sent back to their church congregation or parish to become active laymen. They are being taught that doctrine is not crucial, that to fight for the truth is unspiritual.

They are even being encouraged to accept apostate denominations as genuine expressions of Christianity. There is so much theological diversity among those involved with Promise Keepers that no in-depth discussion of Scripture or what it means to be a Christian could take place without tearing the movement apart. If one followed the doctrines of some of the groups involved in this movement, one could not even be a Christian. And if one is not a Christian, nothing that person does will enable him or her to be godly.

Though we can rejoice that men may get saved and their lives turn around for the good, yet results in and of themselves do not necessarily mean the movement has God's approval or that the methods Promise Keepers uses are right and in conformity to the will of God. Numbers 20 provides a classic example of this. Moses was commanded by God to strike the rock (Ex. 17:5) and speak to it (Num. 20:8) and water would come forth miraculously to supply the needs of the Israelites and their animals. In a fit of rage and frustration over the rebellious attitudes and complaints of Israel, Moses angrily struck the rock twice and water came out of the rock in abundance to quench the thirst of millions of people and animals.

God graciously displayed His supernatural power and performed a miracle in the presence of the entire assembly. Yet, did God approve of Moses' methods? Did the visible result of water coming out in abundance demonstrate God's hand of blessing was upon Moses' work? No, his disobedience was noted and as punishment, he was forbidden to enter the Promised Land. "The good results that were publicly displayed did not justify the wrong way in which God's will was carried out" (Axioms of Separation, p. 14). The same is true about Promise Keepers.

Far too many people simply go along with whatever they are told is biblical, with no particular interest in checking it out for themselves. For those whom the Lord equips, He sets forth an essential for discernment:

John 8:21-32, “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Haven't you heard the scripture, "Do you suppose I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, rather division!" That's right! Jesus said that "from now on five members in one household will be divided three against two, and two against three" (Luke 12:51-52).

Jesus said in John 18:36, "My kingdom is not of this world..." He said he did not come to bring peace, but rather division.

Fifty-two times God refers to Himself in Scripture as the "Holy One." Fifty-nine times He is called or described as being holy.

As believers follow the command to exemplify their God (Ephesians 5:1), they are not free to pick and choose which characteristics to copy. The modern day definition of love largely sets aside God's demand to His children for holiness and justice.

Leviticus 11:44, “For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy.”

1st Peter 1:15-16, “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”

Holiness is the hub of the wheel from which all other divine attributes radiate. Anything that is genuinely at the heart of God should primarily reflect that same characteristic of holiness. With the blatant rejection of the Bible doctrine of separation (which finds its foundation in the holiness of God), Promise Keepers cannot be legitimately considered "at the very heart of God." Whenever a movement becomes engrossed in compromise with error, it ceases to reflect that core attribute which God has chosen as His name (Isaiah 57:15).

Still some would try to ignore the wrong of compromising methods and point out only the good that is seen. Some would even say that those who dare criticize a movement as Promise Keepers which has enjoyed such phenomenal success are being nit-picky.

Birds of a feather, flock together!

Behold the emergence of the ecumenical apostate church, the bride of Antichrist! "Positive Christianity" is the enemy of the cross.

The Ecumenical Movement is a Vehicle Going to a One World Religion

The United Nations, which was created and is controlled by The Council On Foreign Relations, is highly involved in bringing to fruition a One World Religion, as part of a New World Order, which is the Beast system of the coming Antichrist . . .

U.N. plans to bring together 1,000 world religious leaders

By Larry Witham, THE WASHINGTON TIMES, July 14, 2000

A global summit bringing 1,000 religious leaders to the United Nations will disclose some participants next week, good news to U.N. officials eager to plan security and protocol for the unprecedented Aug. 28-29 event. The "working list" to be issued Tuesday will not include personages such as Pope John Paul II and probably not the Dalai Lama, who reports no invitation. But the Vatican's Cardinal Francis Arinze, a Nigerian, will make the trek to New York City as will spiritual leaders from countries such as Peru who have never before left their native soils.

"The leaders we've met in Africa, and Europe and Asia and Russia understand the opportunity," said Dena Merriam, a vice chairman of the summit. "The challenge is to have so many top leaders, and they all have something to say," she said. Miss Merriam, who has traveled with the summit's Secretary-General Bawa Jain to enlist participants, noted that even heads of state are given no more than five minutes to make remarks at the United Nations.

The Millennium World Peace Summit of Religious and Spiritual Leaders is organized by an "independent coalition" of interfaith leaders, and is being held in a year when nongovernmental organizations, or NGOs, are seeking use of the General Assembly chamber more than usual.
"We're hoping in the next two weeks that their program will begin to gel," a U.N. official said.
"Any event that takes place in the General Assembly room requires major concern for security, protocol, the political [aspects], and making sure the program is compatible with the work of the United Nations," he said.

NGO use of the chamber averages about four times a year, but this year it will be roughly 10 times.
The Millennium World Peace Summit of Religious and Spiritual Leaders opens Aug. 28 with an afternoon procession into the General Assembly and sessions all the next day. It moves for two more days to the nearby Waldorf Astoria hotel. The summit was announced last October after "conversations" between media mogul Ted Turner and U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, who will address the session of "the world's pre-eminent" spiritual leaders.

One casualty of the inevitable political delicacies may be the Dalai Lama, spiritual leader of Tibet. China holds one of five permanent seats on the U.N. Security Council and long has opposed his speaking at the United Nations. "His Holiness has not been invited to the summit," an Office of Tibet spokeswoman in New York said Thursday.

The religious leaders are expected to issue a Declaration for World Peace and agree to some form of a permanent International Advisory Council of Religious and Spiritual Leaders. Mr. Turner, the summit's honorary chairman, has promised full live coverage by CNN. The chairman of the top advisory board is Canadian businessman Maurice Strong, who ran the U.N. Earth Summit in 1992, and a vice president of the summit's executive counsel is former Sen. Timothy Wirth, Colorado Democrat, who now heads Mr. Turner's grant-giving United Nations Foundation.

Other vice presidents are Gillian Sorenson, assistant to Mr. Annan, and the Rev. James Morton, an Episcopal priest with the Interfaith Center of New York. A midtown Manhattan office near the United Nations has been the hub of the yearlong effort inviting notable people from 12 world traditions, from the monotheistic faiths to Zoroastrianism, indigenous religions and Confucianism. Funding comes from 11 sponsors, which include the Better World Fund of Mr. Turner and the Templeton, Carnegie and Rockefeller Brothers foundations. Summit organizers would not yet disclose a budget.

Freemasonry and False Religion

Freemasonry: Its Roots & Links to the Occult

Alice Bailey, a leading spokesperson of the occultic Theosophical Society and member of Co-Masonry confirmed the occultic and Luciferian nature of Freemasonry, stated...

"The Masonic Movement is the custodian of the Law, the holder of the Mysteries, and the seat of initiation… a far more occult organization than can be realized… intended to be the training school for coming advanced occultists."

SOURCE: "President Clinton Will Continue The New World Order"; Dennis L. Cuddy, RESEARCH MANUAL: AMERICA 2000/GOALS 2000, MOVING THE NATION EDUCATIONALLY TO A "NEW WORLD ORDER" Editor: James R. Patrick Citizens for Academic Excellence, 1994, 28-48.

It is tragic that many professed "Christians" fail to recognize the occult nature of Freemasonry; while the occultists themselves, who blaspheme the name of Jesus Christ, openly admit the diabolical nature of Freemasonry.

Alice Bailey states the evil agenda of Freemasonry...

"There is no question therefore that the work to be done in familiarizing the general public with the nature of the Mysteries is of paramount importance at this time. These mysteries will be restored to outer expression through the medium of the Church [false church] and the Masonic Fraternity… When the Great One [Antichrist] comes with his disciples and initiates we shall have the restoration of the Mysteries and their exoteric presentation as a consequence of the first initiation."

Alice Bailey plainly stated that Satan would infiltrate the church with Freemasonry, which is the training school for coming advanced occultists who will play their part in the establishment of the New World Order of the antichrist. In lieu of such damning evidence, it's hard to imagine that 26% of all Southern Baptist men are Freemasons
Up until Vatican II in 1965 the Catholic Church was not involved in the world ecumenical movement. At that time it was considered to be an exclusively Protestant project. The Catholic Church was not represented at the various world councils on ecumenism. Vatican II changed all of that with its important document called Unitatis Redintegration (The Restoration of Unity). With that document the Fathers of Varican II committed themselves seriously to strive, along with the Protestants and Orthodox, to work toward the unity that characterized the early Church up until the break with the East in 1054.
The theme of this book by Mr. Whitehead is the Catholic Church's current involvement in ecumenism and the search for Christian unity. The book contains twenty-one short chapters that are easy to read and abound in clarity. The surprising point of the book is that the Catholic Church, slow and late to get involved in ecumenism, since Vatican II has actually taken over the leadership of the world ecumenical movement.
In developing the theme, the author analyzes four important documents: Unitatis Redintegratio, a 1964 decree of the council; Pope Paul VI's letter Ecclesiam Suam on the importance of dialogue to work towards unity; Pope John Paul II's encyclical Ut Unum Sint, on ecumenism and a request for suggestions on how the Petrine primacy of the pope should be exercised in a way that is acceptable both to Catholics and to separated brethren; and the 2000 Vatican document Dominus Iesus, which repeats the Catholic doctrinal position that the Catholic Church is the unique Church of Christ which contains all the means necessary for sanctification and salvation.
Ecumenical dialogues with Protestants and Orthodox theologians have been going on now for over forty years. Many statements have been drafted and approved, warm relations between the groups have been fostered, but so far there has been no reunion. Mr. Whitehead thinks that the effort has been valuable even though, so far, no union has been established.
The popes since Vatican II have been actively involved in the ecumenical movement, especially Pope John Paul II. He had many meetings with Christian leaders from aroud the world -- both at Rome and also in countries like Greece and Turkey. Mr. Whitehead quotes Pope Benedict XVI as saying that he considers promoting Christian unity to be one of the main goals of his papacy. The main problem seems to be the primacy of the pope. The author dedicates many pages to this question. Protestants and Orthodox are willing to grant a primacy of honor to the bishop of Rome, but not a primacy of jurisdiction over the whole Church. And that is the rub. So the primacy as understood and practiced by Rome for over a thousand years seems to be the main obstacle to reunion, especially with the Orthodox Churches of the East.
Many Catholics wonder why the Church takes ecumenism seriously. Forty years of dialogue have not produced reunion with one separated church or ecclesial community. In spite of that, Mr. Whitehead thinks that much has been accomplished, at least on the level of friendly relations that have replaced mutual vituperation.
The book gives the reader a bird's eye view of the whole ecumenical movement since 1965. Those who are interested in the topic will find the reading of this book most rewarding. --Fr. Kenneth Baker, S.J. in the February 2010 issue of Homiletic & Pastoral Review

Before the Second Vatican Council, ecumenism was primarily a Protestant affair. Since Vatican II, Catholics have played a lead role in ecumenical dialogue. How and why that happened, what has been achieved, and where the author thinks ecumenism can (and cannot) go is the subject of The New Ecumenism by Kenneth Whitehead. In 21 chapters, Whitehead leads readers from the Church's 1962 approach to ecumenism (other Christians should simply "return" to Rome) to Pope Benedict XVI's latest ecumenical efforts.
Among the highlights discussed are: why the Church moved from an ecumenism of simple "return" to one of "dialogue"; what Vatican II taught (and did not teach) about ecumenism; the history of key ecumenical developments with the Orthodox, the non-Chalcedonian East (e.g., Syrian Jacobites and Egyptian Copts), and Protestants (with focus on the Anglicans and Lutherans); the significance of Pope John Paul II's invitation, in Ut Unum Sint, for Catholics and other Christians to discuss how the papacy might be exercised to "accomplish a service of love recognized by all concerned"; reactions, especially from the Orthodox, about the Roman primacy; recent Vatican documents (e.g., and "Reflections on the Primacy") on the Church's relation to other Christian communities and non-Christian religions; and where ecumenism might be headed.
In setting out to pursue ecumenical dialogue, Vatican II had to hold two poles together: to preserve continuity with essential Church teaching while moving a stalemated ecumenism along. "What the Second Vatican Council did with regard to ecumenism... was not to change or contradict what... previous popes had decided and taught... but rather to look at the whole question of ecumenism from a different angle, and to approach it in a different way -- to change the terms of the discussion, as it were. "Vatican II's new approach was that, like the Good Shepherd in the parable, the Church herself henceforth had to go out in search of the Lost Sheep" (emphasis original).
Whitehead, former assistant secretary of education in the Reagan administration, makes it clear that ecumenical dialogue cannot be conducted by jettisoning or ignoring settled Catholic teaching. At the same time, he also insists that a new approach was both needed and justified, because Jesus himself prayed for Christian unity at the Last Supper. Indeed, the book sometimes seems skewed in repeatedly justifying the Church's new ecumenical approach: The loudest objections often heard in America and Western Europe are not that ecumenical dialogue is taking place, but that it is taking so long. On the latter, however, Whitehead is clear: Unity will be achieved on God's timetable, by grace and not diplomatic negotiation. He also maintains perspective: Considering where Catholic ecumenical dialogue was in 1962, the Church has traveled light years in the past half century.
This book does a good job of tracing the historical development of Catholic ecumenism, although it might have expanded more on dialogue with other Protestant deneminations. Its theological treatment of the question of the Roman primacy, with an intense focus on Orthodox responses, seems a little drawn out for the needs of this book. Finally, Whitehead, whose other book this year was Mass Misunderstandings: The Mixed Legacy of the Vatican II Liturgical Reforms, broaches a topic in his last chapter that deserves expansion: "the need for an 'ecumenism of the trenches' -- the cooperation between Christians of various confessions in opposing some of the grave evils stemming from the galloping moral degradation [of]... society today." In some ways, the divide is not between religions, but between those who believe versus architects of a godless world.
Readers in search of a quick, up-to-date and easy-to-read synopsis, faithful to essential Catholic perspectives, about where the Church has come in ecumenical dialogue from Vatican II to the present will benefit from this book. --John M. Grondelski writing from Bern Switzerland in The National Catholic Register, December 20, 2009

Two flawed interpretations of the ecumenical enterprise are disturbingly widespread among Catholics today. One is "progressive," the other "traditionalist." Both are wrong.
The progressive version goes like this. Fifty years ago, in the time of Pope John XXIII and Vatican Council II, ecumenism was going great guns. Indeed, the speedy reunion of separated Christians was a real possibility. But soon after the council things stalled, and under Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI a reaction set in. Due to foot-dragging by Rome, the ecumenical movement is now at an impasse. The traditionalist story is hugely different. Starting with Vatican II and continuing since then, it holds, Catholic ecumenism has been a mistake. There's been no significant progress, ther's been no reunion, and the practical result of it has been mainly to encourage the relativistic notion that one religion is as good as another. Better we admit our mistakes, cut our losses, and concentrate on encouraging people to convert. Neither in theology nor in matters of fact is either the progressive or the traditionalist account correct. It's the great merit of Kenneth D. Whitehead's helpful new book, The New Ecumenism (Alba House, 2009), to show in concrete detail why that's not so.
Writing from the perspective of an eminently orthodox Catholic, Whitehead argues that the formal commitment of the Catholic Church to the ecumenical movement which began some four decades ago conforms to Christ's will for Christian unity as well as to the Church's own solemn teaching. Individual conversions to Catholicism are much to be desired and should be encouraged. But the "new ecumenism" of ecumenical dialogue in search for common ground isn't merely permissible but necessary. Nor is it reasonable to put the blame for slow progress on the Vatican. Take the Catholic relationship with the Anglican Communion. Generally speaking, the gulf between Rome and Canterbury hasn't been widened by the Vatican's words and deeds but by the Anglicans' well publicized inability to put their house in anything approximating even a semblance of order.
The Orthodox? Recall that Orthodoxy isn't one body but a grouping of autocephalous -- independent -- national churches, each with its own historically-conditioned relationship to the Church of Rome. Among these bodies, the prickly nationalism of the largest, the Russian Orthodox Church, remains an especially serious huge obstacle to entente with Catholics. To be sure, in some cases Rome hypothetically might gain an appearance of unity by abandoning one or another dogma or authoritative teaching. Progressive voices in Catholicism sometimes urge that. But this kind of political compromise would be, Whitehead notes, a dishonest way of handling substantive differences about doctrinal truth. It contains the seeds of its own collapse. As matters stand, Rome has gone pretty far. In 1995 John Paul II reached out to the Orthodox in the encyclical Ut Unum Sint (That They May Be One), inviting suggestions on how to exercise papal primacy of jurisdiction in a way they would find more congenial. If there have been significant responses to date, it's a well-kept secret.
Yes, half a centruy ago there were expectations that unity would be quick and easy. "We wanted to do ourselves what only God can do," Pope Benedict says. "Now we know beter. When and if unity comes, it will be in God's good time." Meanwhile, the Pope says, "we have to be prepared to keep on seeking, in the knowledge that the seeking itself is one way of finding.... [It is] the only appropriate attitude for the person who is on a pilgrimage toward eternity." --Russel Shaw, posted on July 3, 2009 @ 12:02 am in The Edge

Ecumenism: The last several popes have made the quest for Church unity an item of the highest priority on their agendas. The New Edumenism: How the Catholic Church after Vatican II Took Over the Leadership of the World Ecumenical Movement by Kenneth D. Whitehead reviews the mandate of the Second Vatican Council to go out and find the lost sheep -- even if they didn't know they were lost. The Catholic Church's relations with other Christians, and with the search for Christian unity is what is being dealt with in this extraordinarily well-researched and very readable book. It is hard to imagine on what John Paul II put in more time and effort, personally, than he did on his efforts to seek better relations with our fellow Christians -- probably to a much greater extent than most Catholics, and indeed most Protestants, have generally noticed or realized. The book reviews past efforts and looks to the future for all Christians. --Crux of the News, April 27, 2009

Since the end of the Second Vatican Council more than 40 years ago, the Catholic Church has been engaged in a renewed effort to seek reunion with other Christians. The last several pontiffs have made Christian unity an item of highest priority on their agendas; magisterial documents addressing the subject have been issued; and, at every level, practical steps have been taken to achieve a greater unity. In short, as the subtitle of this book suggests, "The Catholic Church After Vatican II Took Over the Leadership of the World Ecumenical Movement." We have entered a new era in ecumenism -- the fostering of better relationships between the Catholic Church and other Christian traditions, with a corresponding search for unity. The author provides an extended analysis of this ecumenical era, beginning with related debates at Vatican II and tracing developments with regard to Eastern Christians and Protestants. Ecnyclical and other magisterial documents are examined with special attention to the critical issue of papal primacy. The study concludes with a hopful look at "prospects for the future." --The Catholic Answer, Reviews, July/August 2009
The Ecumenical Farce Exposed!
To beatify a man who also condemned the idea that non-Roman-Catholics should be free to practise their religion, and who rejected any notion of papal reconciliation with ''progress, liberalism and modern society'', has once again exposed the unmistakable face behind the Vatican masquerade.
Professor Arthur Noble

O that the free would stamp the impious name
Of Pope into the dust! Or write it there,
So that this blot upon the page of fame
Were as a serpent's path, which the light air
Erases, and the flat sands close behind!
— Percy Bysshe Shelley

The great English statesman W.E. Gladstone (1809-1898), who was four times British Prime Minister in the 19th century, once issued a solemn warning about the Church of Rome which the blind and brainless dupes travelling on the ecumenical bandwagon have still not understood: "Rome," said Gladstone, "has refurbished, and paraded anew, every rusty tool that she was fondly thought to have disused."

The beatification of the anti-Semite Pope Pius IX is one such example of the changelessness of the old hag who masquerades behind the external show of modernism. The controversy over Pius IX follows the uproar over the beatification of his namesake, Pius XII, the notorious "Hitler's Pope", and has provoked worldwide fury.

The pontificate of Pius IX (1846-78) was the longest in history and included the declaration of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception (1854) and the First Vatican Council's (1869-1870) doctrine of papal infallibility. The Irish Sunday Observer (September 3, 2000) summed up his essence well in the headline "A Pope who kidnaps children and calls Jews dogs is no Saint".

The reference was to the fact that in 1849 Pius IX, by his real name Giovanni Maria Mastai Ferretti, sanctioned the kidnapping and forced baptism of a six-year-old Jewish boy who was taken from his parents in 1858 – an act reminiscent of the 1993 actions of the Vatican-inspired UNADFI in France, which organised a conspiracy to destroy the non-ecumenical Protestant Christian Churches in that country, labelling them 'sects' as an excuse to kidnap the children of their members. Rome's Chief Rabbi Elio Toaff told the Italian Repubblica newspaper: "Kidnapping a child, bringing him to a convent, making him a priest, taking him away from his parents – this is stuff right out of the penal code."

Pius IX also became notorious for introducing race laws which have been described by Jewish historians as the forerunners of those of Hitler and Mussolini; they forced Jews back into the old ghettos where they had been confined for hundreds of years, banned them from public hospitals, and excluded them from attending secondary schools. Many European heads of state protested the 1858 kidnapping, and as a result Pius blamed Rome's Jews for what he claimed was a widespread Protestant conspiracy to defeat the papacy, and levied medieval restrictions on the community.

Jewish assessments of the racist Pius IX have also been confirmed by many non-Jewish historians, including Professor Owen Chadwick, a leading English church scholar who says that the record of Pius IX "verges on the criminal". The fascist-style actions of the self-professing 'Vicar of Christ on Earth' provoked an international outcry at the time. Predictably, however, the Vatican was adamant that the ceremony should proceed and thus demonstrated its unchanging principle that imaginary self-imputed 'infallibility' extends to the justification of blatant racism and shameless criminality.

Significantly, ultimate responsibility for the beatification of this racist thug reverts to the present Pope John Paul II himself, who in the early 1940's was employed as a salesman by the I.G. Farben Chemical Company in Poland. This company sold cyanide, Zyklon B and malathion – three gases which were used by the Nazis to exterminate millions of Jews and other groups. [See Milton William Cooper: Secret Societies. The New World Order. Part 3.]

Having ostensibly made reconciliation with the Jews a hallmark of his own pontificate, Pope John Paul II has revealed the true face behind the mask of the Roman Church's so-called ecumenism: with the arrogant and unchanging stubbornness of his anti-Semitic predecessor, he has ignored an international campaign to reverse the beatification decision and embellished the crimes of Pius IX as "heroic values". To beatify a man who also condemned the idea that non-Roman-Catholics should be free to practise their religion, and who rejected any notion of papal reconciliation with ''progress, liberalism and modern society'', has once again exposed the unmistakable face behind the Vatican masquerade
.CHRIST OR ANTICHRIST? Flirting With Popery
Here is Cowper’s warning to those evangelicals who flirt with the Roman Harlot. The Lie is the Papacy (II Thess. 2:11).
William Cowper

Hast thou admitted with a blind, fond trust
The Lie that burned thy father’s bones to dust;
That first adjudged them heretics, then sent
Their souls to heaven, and cursed them as they went;
The Lie that scripture strips of its disguise,
And execrates above all other Lies;
The Lie that claps a lock on Mercy’s plan,
And gives the key to you infirm old man,
Who, once ensconced in Apostolic chair,
Is defied, and sits omniscient there;
The Lie that knows no kindred, owns no friend
But him that makes its progress his chief end,
That having spilt much blood, makes that a boast,
And canonises him that sheds the most?
Away with charity that soothes a Lie,
And thrusts the truth with scorn and anger by!
Shame on the candour, and the gracious smile,
Bestowed on them that light the martyr’s pile,
While insolent distain, in frowns expressed,
Attends the tenets that endured the test!
Grant them the rights of men, and while they cease
To vex the peace of others, grant them peace;
But trusting bigots whose false zeal has made
Treachery their duty, thou art self-betrayed!

The Holy Inquisition Works Today

On Tuesday October 21st l890, HRH Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh (1844-1900), who had just been appointed Commander-in-Chief at Devonport, unveiled the monument to the Armada on Plymouth Hoe.

The date was the anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar. On the south face of the monument were inscribed the words “He blew with His winds, and they were scattered,” reproduced from the reverse of the famous Armada medal of Elizabeth 1.

But the end is not yet. The fight against Rome continues. Sixteen years earlier, in the same city of Plymouth, so rich in Protestant history, the Rev William Harris Rule had written in the preface to his two volume History of the Inquisition: “All churches that have lost the Spirit of Christ are given to persecute, but no church on earth except the Church of Rome, has had a separate institution for the inquest and punishment of heresy, with a peculiar code of laws and appointed courts, judges and officers. This and this only is the INQUISITION”.

William Rule was writing in the age of revolutions, when Rome’s temporal power was being overthrown. Rule concluded, “I am no longer predicting a speedy extinction of it everywhere, as when I wrote my last preface, but have the happiness of recording the accomplished fact”.

It is true that the dungeons, torture chambers, prisons and great public burnings may have gone, but Rome’s persecuting spirit still emanates from the same building that it did in Rule’s time.

Heavily fortified

The illustration in Rule’s first volume is a view of the façade of the Inquisition. We reproduce it alongside the only view available to the public today, that is, with the photographer’s back to the Bernini colonnades, looking through the twenty foot high, massively fortified, steel barrier, manned by the Swiss guard. Rule’s photograph shows the identical building from with Vatican City, looking back to the Bernini colonnades, with no barrier. Far from having become a museum or art gallery this building is still the nerve centre of Rome’s persecuting endeavours, now heavily fortified.

Rome “is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird” (Rev 18:2). Hence the fate of erring Romish theologians under Chief Inquisitor Prefect Ratzinger, is of no particular interest to us except to show that the Spirit of Inquisition lives on today.

In the middle ages, familiars, or Inquisition spies, reported heretics who were secretly investigated and then forcibly detained without stated reason, to face the Inquisitors. Amazingly this pattern is still followed. Any Romanist can denounce any other to the Inquisition confidentially. Those being investigated are only informed officially at a late stage. One theologian only discovered that he was being investigated when a colleague informed him that he was requested immediately to return copies of his books to the Gregorian Pontifical University in Rome, because the Inquisition needed them.

The Ratio agendi (Manner of proceeding) against heretics published at Rome, by the Inquisition on June 29, 1997, is on the official Vatican website. The Vatican makes no secret of the threat it poses to heretic transgressors. The Inquisition “has the duty of examining writings and opinions which appear contrary to correct faith or dangerous … This fundamental pastoral responsibility concerns all the pastors of the Church, who have the duty and the right to exercise vigilance,” or, in other words, spy on one another.

This “vigilance” leads to a Preliminary examination. “The indicated writings or teaching are given attention by the competent Office, which submits them to the examination of the Congresso (the weekly meeting of the Superiors and Officials of the Congregation).

After a preliminary evaluation of the gravity of the question, the Congresso decides whether or not to undertake a study by the Office”.

The Office study follows. The theologian’s work is then “carefully examined with the collaboration of one or more Consultors or other experts in the particular area”. If they decide a witch-hunt is in order the Ordinary procedure of examination commences.

Those found heretical then face Disciplinary measures. No longer physically burnt at the stake, Rome does the worst she can. “If the author has not corrected the indicated errors in a satisfactory way and with adequate publicity, and the Sessione Ordinaria has concluded that he has committed the offense of heresy, apostasy or schism, the Congregation proceeds to declare the latae sententiae penalties incurred; against such a declaration no recourse is admitted”.

This usually means that their licence to teach in Romanist universities is withdrawn and since heresy taints by association they are shunned by colleagues. As in the Middle Ages the process is exquisitely slow and laborious leaving victims in suspense for years. A story once leaked out from the Inquisition that a baby was found in its corridors. Ratzinger was horrified but he was reassured by a junior Inquisitor that anything conceived within their walls could never reach fruition in only nine months!

Dominus Iesus

As far as Protestants are concerned, the Inquisition marked the year 2000 Jubilee by reaffirming Rome’s unique “salvific” position. The Inquisition’s Declaration was entitled Dominus Iesus (see Box). It was ratified by the Pope in June and published by the Inquisition in August. The English edition of the Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano issued the full text as a special supplement to an edition which also covered the beatification of Pius IX, the Pope who affirmed papal infallibility in 1870. This appeared under the sub headline, “Pius IX gave absolute primacy to God and spiritual values”. The insert was lavishly illustrated with early icons of a severe looking Christ. L’Osservatore pointedly included one from the national Museum of Lviv in the Ukraine, the heartland of the battle between the Latin Rite and Russian Orthodox churches.

Dominus Iesus granted “sister church” status to the Eastern Orthodox Churches but “on the other hand” denied that Protestant churches are true Churches. Ratzinger held a Vatican press conference on September 5th. He is reported as saying “the document was a necessary response to the theology of religious pluralism, which is growing not only in theological circles, but also more generally in Catholic public opinion … there is a growing body of opinion suggesting that other religions can offer an important complement to the teachings of Christianity.”

“The cardinal pointed out that many people today view the (Roman) Church’s traditional claim to be the unique and universals means to salvation as a bit of fundamentalism which is an attack on the modern spirit and a menace to toleration and liberty. Because of that attidude, he continued, many people see ecumenical dialogue as an end in itself. Dialogue – or rather the ideology of dialogue – becomes a substitute for missionary activity and for the urgency of an appeal to conversion.” Rome accepts nothing less than capitulation to herself, something the ecumenists will one day discover for themselves.

Unum Sanctum

Ratzinger continued, “This mistaken notion of dialogue … emphasizes not a search for objective and absolute truth, but a desire to put all religious beliefs on the same plane. And such dialogue gives rise to a false idea of tolerance, which allows respect for other beliefs because it rejects the possibility of any objective truth”. Archbishop Tarcisio Bertone, Secretary to the Inquisition, observed that “Dominus Iesus does not contain any new teaching, but reaffirms and restates the doctrine of the Catholic faith in answer to contemporary problems and theories.” (See Unum Sanctum in the box.) “He emphasized that because it comes from the Holy See, with the explicit authorization of the Pope, the document must be viewed as the teaching of the Magisterium (the body of teaching of the infallible popes), rather than just another theological opinion.”

Ecclesial community

The “Sister” status of the Eastern Orthodox Churches was soon the subject of a clarifying Note by Ratzinger on the 14th September 2000, intended to harden the position against “ambiguities”. The Orthodox must accept the papal primacy to become part the true (Roman) Church, and the term “Sister” must never be used of Protestant churches. Interviewed on 22nd September by Frank-furter Allgemeine he spoke more freely. When asked to comment upon the fact that, “the ecclesial status of Anglicans and Protestants is not acknowledged” in Dominus Iesus he replied that during the Jubilee he aimed to bring “what is essential firmly to the centre of this occasion”. He was then asked to comment on “The fact is that the Evangelical side now considers the definition ecclesial community an offence. The harsh reactions to your document are clear proof of this.”

Ratzinger replied, “I find the claim of our Lutheran friends frankly absurd, that we are to consider these structures (the Reformed Churches), resulting from chance historical events, (to be) the Church in the same way (that) we believe (that) the (Roman) Catholic Church founded on the apostolic succession …. is the Church”.

He also quoted Luther’s condemnation of the Roman Church as the Antichrist in such a convoluted way that one felt he was implying the exact reverse. He went on to affirm the Bible can only be truly interpreted by Rome.

A rumour in 1996 hinted that John Paul II wanted to rescind the excommunication of Luther, but that Ratzinger personally blocked it. Ratzinger is certainly on record in 1998 as confirming that “the anathemas levelled at Lutherans by the Council of Trent are still in force”. Readers will recall the negotiations upon the doctrine of justification by faith between the Vatican and the Lutheran World Federation at that time, leading to the Joint Declaration of the 25th June 1998. Readers may also recall the subsequent bizarre Vatican Response document backtracking on the core points. Ratzinger is generally believed to be the prime mover behind the Response, despite his protestation that it is a “smooth lie” that he wished to strangle the Joint Declaration at birth. A compromise was reached in this murky affair when Ratzinger took a leading role in producing an Annex document which was designed to save everyone’s face whilst ensuring that the final agreement was on his own carefully worded terms.

Rome – Always the same.

2000 AD Dominus Iesus: On the Unity and Salvific Universality of Jesus Christ and the Church. IV. Unicity and Unity of the Church

16. “The Catholic faithful are required to profess (italics Rome’s) that there is an historical continuity – rooted in the apostolic succession – between the Church founded by Christ and the Catholic Church: This is the single Church of Christ … (which) … continues to exist fully only in the (Roman) Catholic Church … This Church, constituted and organized as a society in the present world, subsists in (subsistit in) the (Roman) Catholic Church, governed by the Successor of Peter and by the Bishops in communion with him.”

17. “Therefore there exists a single Church of Christ which subsists in the (Roman) Catholic Church governed by the successor of Peter … The (Eastern Orthodox) Churches while not existing in perfect communion with the (Roman) Catholic Church remain united … by apostolic succession a valid Eucharist (Mass) and are true particular (disobedient) Churches … since they do not accept the (Roman) Catholic doctrine of the Primacy (of the Pope of Rome) which according to the will of God the Bishop of Rome objectively has and exercises over the entire Church.

“On the other hand the ecclesial communities (Protestant heretics) which have not preserved the valid Episcopate and genuine and integral substance of the eucharistic mystery (Mass) are not churches in the proper sense …”

The Lord Jesus Christ says, “I am the way the truth and the life no man cometh unto the Father but by me”

The Pope of Rome claims to be Jesus Christ on earth, Christ’s Vicar or Substitute.

In this connection, Cardinal Manning put forth clearly and explicitly the claims of the Roman Pontiff: “In Christ’s right I am Sovereign. I acknowledge no civil superior: I am the subject of no Prince, and I claim to be the supreme judge on earth, the director of the consciences of men: of the peasant that tills the field and the Prince that sits on the Throne: of the household that sits in the shade of privacy and the legislator that makes laws for the kingdom. I am the last sole supreme judge on earth of what is right and wrong”

The Irish Presbyterian Church proposes to hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith and Dr Ken Newell as its incoming Moderator swore at His ordination to believe the said confession as the confession of his own faith: The Confession of Faith states:

Chapter 25 paragraph 6

OF THE POPE

VI. There is no head of the church but the Lord Jesus Christ: nor can the Pope of Rome in any sense be head thereof; but is that antichrist, that man of sin, and son of perdition, that exalteth himself in the church against Christ, and all that is called God.

Westminster Confession Chapter 29 Paragraph 2:

ON THE LORD’S SUPPER

“In this sacrament Christ is not offered up to his Father, nor any real sacrifice made at all for remission of sins of the quick or dead; but only a commemoration of that one offering up of himself, by himself, upon the cross, once for all, and a spiritual oblation of all possible praise unto God for the same, so that the Popish sacrifice of the mass, as they call it, is most abominably injurious to Christ’s one only sacrifice, the alone propitiation for all the sins of the elect.”

Despite this, and the reported protests of three presbyteries, Dr Newell has invited the Pope’s Representative in Ireland, the Roman Catholic Primate Archbishop Brady to attend, as his personal guest, his installation ceremony as Moderator of the General Assembly of the Irish Presbyterian Church.

Should a man who abominably injures Christ be welcomed by the General Assembly?

THIS IS AN ACT OF TREASON TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND A DECLARATION OF PERJURY OF DR NEWELL’S ORDINATION OATH.

THE SOLEMN ISSUE IS LOYALTY OR DISLOYALTY TO THE ONLY KING AND HEAD OF THE CHURCH OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.

The Bible commands and demands clear cut separation from such apostasy.

I Timothy 6:3-5
3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
Rome Seizing Power in the Nineteenth Century: The Vatican and the Emancipation Era
The Ensalvement of a Nation:

FOR MOST of the 19th century, Vatican policy in Ireland was to appease the British monarchy and work for the Conversion of England, hoping it would bring Great Britain and Ireland and the Empire into Rome at a single stroke.

The Vatican was still reeling from the consequences of the French revolution and was terrified of any revolutionary activity. Daniel O’Connell’s boisterous Irish activities caused the cardinals to shudder.

This explains why, strange as it may seem to us today, the priests were the prime movers in stirring up popular enthusiasm for the Union of Ireland with Great Britain in 1800. Irish chief secretary, Viscount Castlereagh, “gave it as his opinion that the Union would not have gone through without (Roman) Catholic advocacy”.

Rome’s conciliatory approach to the British Government first emerged when a meeting of the trustees of the Irish seminary at Maynooth passed a resolution which favoured the idea that candidates for bishoprics should be selected by the Irish clergy and then submitted to the government for its approval before the list was sent to Rome. (The trustees consisted of four archbishops and ten bishops.)

This was not weakness. Rome works over centuries and millennia to achieve her ends. She feigns friendship with Governments, while simply ignoring any objections they may make to her policies.

Veto on RC bishops

Since the vast majority of the Irish population were Roman Catholic, the power of the archbishops and bishops was immense. When any bishopric fell vacant, Rome was sent a Terna, that is a list of three candidates for the vacancy. These were the dignissimus ‑ the most suitable , the dignior ‑ the next most suitable, and a third, the dignus. Should the British Government object to a certain name, Rome would choose between the remaining two or even reject them all and demand three more names.

If the government objected to an appointment, Rome might divide her dioceses, or alter their boundaries, or create new posts in order to get her man installed. If one government obstructed her, she would wait for a new government who might wish to please her in return for some favour that the government urgently required. Or Rome might appoint the rejected favourite as coadjutor to an elderly and incompetent bishop, thus getting him in by the back door. Or she might simply delay and delay a decision until the objections no longer applied. The fact that the priests back in Ireland might be outraged, was of no account to Rome.

O’Connell finds out

O’Connell discovered Rome’s conciliatory policy towards the British Governemnt quite by accident during a Commons debate in 1808. He made such a public fuss that the Irish hierarchy promised they would abolish the government’s veto over the appointment of bishops. Rome simply ignored the Irish hierarchy and continued secretly to allow the British government to veto appointments. In 1814 the Quarantotti Rescript was leaked from Rome’s College of the Propaganda. Rome was exposed as still operating the veto, having taken no notice of her own men in Ireland.

O’Connell was furious. He organised a protest meeting in Dublin declaring, “Let our determination never to assent reach Rome”. He went on to say, “I am sincerely a Catholic, but I am not a Papist. I deny the doctrine that the Pope has any temporal authority, directly or indirectly in Ireland”. Indeed, he continued, “in spiritual matters too the authority of the Pope is limited”’. He added that, “if the present clergy shall … become … vile slaves … I warn them … the people all despise them too much to contribute”.

O’Connell threatens the Pope

The meeting decided to lobby the peope directly. A protest was drawn up against “the interference of your Holiness in the control of our temporal conduct … we cannot admit of any right on the part of the Holy See … to direct our political conduct”. O’Connell even threatened the Pope. The Bishops simultaneously “adopted a series of resolutions to be presented to the Holy See expressive of their opposition to the Veto”.

Both documents were duly despatched to Rome. The Vatican serenely ignored O’Connell as beneath contempt. The reply to the Bishops was couched in typical non-committal Rome-speak and took a year to arrive. It was a “vague defence” of the veto and “conciliatory”. The existence of the veto was soon forgotten amongst more pressing matters.

So Rome achieved her first objective which was the Union of Ireland with Great Britain and the governemnt veto on bishops.

But times were changing. As young Maynooth educated preists with nationalist zeal replaced old continentally educated men, the priesthood became more militant. The historian of O’Connell’s 1823 penny-a-month-after-mass Catholic Association says that the priests “no longer refused co-operation in every expedient of constitutional annoyance … they joined every meeting, they seconded every proposition, they lent their aid to every project …. Likely to defeat or gall the common foe”.

Catholic emancipation

The next objective was Catholic emancipation ‑ the removing of the legal disabilities which stood in the way of the advancement of Roman Catholics holding office. The priests ensured victory in the Emancipation struggle by vigorous promotion of their candidates in a number of key elections from 1826 onwards, culminating in the decisive 1828 County Clare victory in which O’Connell’s election forced the Government’s hand to grant Emancipation to the extent of allowing a Roman Catholic to sit in the House of Commons.

For two months previous to the election, meetings were convened in Catholic chapels (churches) all over the country. From platforms erected before altars, priests told the people how to vote. “Every altar was made a tribune.”

In County Clare the priests ordered “The whole male population between 15 and 80 to proceed to the scene of voting”. During the five days of the County Clare election, “150 priests remained in town appealing to electors to stand firm for their faith. Priests stationed themselves at every approach to the town” to harangue voters. Other priests “entered the polling booths to discourage last minute weaknesses”.

In Vatican eyes Emancipation was the first step towards the Conversion of England. Priestly excesses were conveniently ignored. But when O’Connell then began his vociferous campaign for repeal of the Union, Rome took immediate steps to oppose him by gagging the priests. Neither they nor their chapels (churches) were to be used to promote repeal of the Union. With Rome’s support O’Connell achieved Emancipation in four years. With Rome against him, he never achieved repeal of the Union despite larger and more sophisticated agitations.

Reverence and love

By the 9th February 1830, the Irish hierarchy, under pressure from Rome, signed “the first official statement” to the priests and people since Emancipation. God was thanked, as was the Duke of Wellington and his government. Their King was “to merit their honour, obedience and gratitude”. The British Parliament was “worthy of reverence and love” for the step it had taken. The people were to “demonstrate a steady attachment to the constitution ... the laws of the country and the person and government of the King”. The priests were warned off direct political action. “We united ... discharged a duty ... which we have relinquished ... These are the sentiments our clergy, always obedient to our voice will cherish with us:” And O’Connell got no mention at all.

The press soon noticed Rome’s non‑attendance at repeal (of the Union) meetings. On October 30th the RC Archbishop Murray had to provide an explanation. The Dublin Evening Post reported the Archbishop to be “utterly adverse to any agitation to endanger the public peace,” and, “most anxious the Catholic clergy take no ... part in questions of a merely political character”. In 1831, a synod passed a regulation that “absolutely prohibited any priest from granting the use of any church or chapel for public meetings of the laity ... and reading any proclamation from the altar except announcements concerning divine service”.

The British government was now seriously indebted to Rome. Formal diplomatic contacts between Britain and Rome had ceased at the Reformation, but “unofficial contact was ... maintained through the British representative to the State of Tuscany”. In 1825 Lord Burghersh, using this channel, reported to the Foreign office that “The Court of Rome see with dissatisfaction the unruly spirit at various times shown even against itself by the Catholic clergy of Ireland ... it would be anxious to reduce it to more orderly conduct both as regards the British Government and its own authority”.

Burghersh outlined Rome’s proposed deal. The Court of Rome, financially embarrassed by Napoleon, “would receive with gratitude any proposition for the payment of that Church, conceding in return a total renunciation of all pretension to the ancient establishment that belonged to it and granting to the Government a power in the election of Bishops”.

Furthermore, Rome added, “in the desire of healing wounds that have so long existed ... if the statute restricting direct communication with the Holy See were taken away ... (The Holy See) would be happy to enter into such arrangements”.

In 1829 Pius Vill, sensing British weakness, wrote to the Earl of Aberdeen. He assured Aberdeen that the King had “no subjects more loyal and devoted to Him … It was true there were some points of religious difference between His Majesty and Himself, which he regretted, but these were of no avail.” (!) His Irish people “would be a source of strength and happiness to his Empire,” – as long as Britain continued to appease Rome.

Britain asks Rome a favour

The same year Lord Burghersh went to Rome to collect a political favour. He asked Rome to fix the appointment of a particular favoured dignior over an objected to dignissimus for security reasons. Rome deliberated and chose neither, appointing the dignus. A letter of the 31st December 1829 from Cardinal Albani to Lord Burghersh tried to gloss over the snub and is still preserved in the Public Records Office. This is a perfect example of the techniques by which Rome eventually won, and the British government lost, in Ireland.

To appease the British government, Cardinal Albani wrote: “However if these weighty reasons have made the Holy Father feel the hard necessity of not appointing ... a Bishop recommended to him by the British Government, he has not in the meantime chosen the person to whom the government has object. Notwithstanding therefore that Msgr Foran (dignissimus) is the person most desired as Bishop by the Clergy of that Church, His Holiness has selected another from the names of those recommended ... The Holy Father flatters himself that His British Majesty will see from this that if he had been able to do more to meet his Royal Wishes, He certainly would have done it." The Irish bishops did not get their way, nor did the British government, but the Vatican did. Rome never changes.
Rome's Crimes – Has she repented of them?
Since the rise of Popery 50,000,000 people had been put to death in various ways for their religion by the end of the 19th century.

Many of the most horrendous crimes against humanity have been committed by the Church of Rome throughout the history of her existence. Her persecution of Protestants and other "heretics" is the inevitable result of her belief in the absolute power and infallibility of the Pope. Persecution is the natural outgrowth of these Papal dogmas.

Through the centuries history furnishes abundant proof of the Roman Church's crimes against those who would not bow the knee to her. The crusade of Pope Innocent III against the Albigenses in 1208 was a war of extermination, lasting for several years, and was one of the bloodiest in history. We recall the persecution of John Wycliffe, the "Morning Star of the Reformation", and the martyrdom of William Tyndale, who gave the English people the Word of God in their native tongue. So bitterly was Wycliffe pursued by his Papal foes, that his very bones were exhumed, burnt by the Church of Rome, and their ashes scattered on the river Swift. We remember the burning at the stake of the Czech Reformer John Huss by the Council of Constance in 1415, which in spite of the Emperor's guarantee of safe conduct declared that "faith need not be kept with heretics"! The death of Huss was followed in the next year by the martyrdom of Jerome of Prague, also by fire. Savonarola was put to death at Florence in 1498, because he fearlessly denounced the wickedness of Pope Alexander VI, and earnestly sought the reformation of the Church. In the 30 years between 1540 and 1570 no less than 900,000 Protestants were put to death by Papists in different countries of Europe. During the four-year reign of Pope Paul IV (1555-59), the Inquisition alone destroyed 150,000; when he died, the people of Rome crowded to the prison, broke open the doors, released 1,700 prisoners and set fire to the building. In England 300 Protestants were burnt in three years by the Romanist Queen "Bloody Mary", 17 of them being the famous Lewes Martyrs. In Paris, on St. Bartholomew's Day, 1572, 30,000 Huguenots, "the flower of France", were massacred at the command of Pope Pius V, who so rejoiced at the news that he had a special 'Te Deum' sung and a medal struck, inscribed with his name and the words 'Strages Ugonotorum', "The Slaughter of the Huguenots". The Duke of Alva's "Council of Blood" cruelly destroyed thousands of faithful Christians in the Netherlands: for the success of this crusade the Pope earnestly prayed, and sent the Duke a "consecrated" hat and sword. During no less than thirty persecutions the blood of the noble Waldenses was shed in the valleys of the Piedmont, and yet they heroically kept the faith. For 300 years the horrendous Papal Inquisition spread terror over Europe. In Spain alone 31,000 persons were burnt alive and 291,000 imprisoned. It is estimated that in the sixteenth century no less than 900,000 Protestant martyrs laid down their lives for Christ. Even in this twentieth century, which boasts of "enlightenment", the Church of Rome still persecutes. Pope Pius XII was an arrogant and cunning fanatic who helped Hitler to power, blessed Mussolini's troops and colluded with the Nazi Ustashi in Yugoslavia in slaughtering 250,000 Orthodox Serbs, many herded into churches and burned alive; his priests also forcibly converted over a million of them to Roman Catholicism.

Since the rise of Popery 50,000,000 people had been put to death in various ways for their religion by the end of the 19th century. [Documented in The Protestant Echo, July 1, 1903.] These figures make the atrocities of Hitler or Phol Pot look like a Sunday school picnic.

An examination of the Roman Catholic Church's contemporary attitude to these and others of her past atrocities reveals that behind her conciliatory ecumenical image lurks the familiar old hag who boasts that she still remains and always will remain "semper eadem". Were she once again to consolidate the power which she claims over temporal civil governments, persecution of her opponents could be carried out on an even greater scale. Her system is unchanged and is growing in our country.Courting Rome

In several newspapers we can read about great support for ecumenical efforts. Protestants and Catholics join forces. The strategy is clear: First unite the various Protestant denominations, then merge this group of churches with the Catholics.

The question is this: Why are the churches uniting? What is going on? From the Catholics' own sources we find that the soldiers in the papal front lines, the Jesuits, have been commissioned by Rome to unify the church denominations _ by their having dialogues. At the 1995 Jesuit General Conference 34, they said that "The second Vatican Council has encouraged all Catholics to enter into dialogue... so we can promote unification... The Holy Father has time and again asked the Jesuits to bring about an inter-religious dialogue, an apostolic prioritizing in the third millennium...it seems like a dialogue is developing the gathering and liberating potential for all religions..." (Dekre 5, pkt. 130 (D5, 130)) "...Inter-religious dialogues is an integrating element of the Jesuits mission..." (D5, 137) They say, "We have a special responsibility to promote inter-religious dialogues." (D5, 154) Yes, "this culture of dialoguing should become the special hallmark of our Jesuit Order."

Through the ecumenical exertions of the Jesuits, The Catholic Church attempts to engage Hindus, Jews, Buddhists, various Protestant denominations, and others in dialogue. When we witness church denominations jointly arranging events, we are beholding the visible fruit of the dialogues between the churches.

Ever since Vatican II, in 1962-65, The Catholic Church has strived to unite the various Protestant denominations under the umbrella of Rome. No longer are Protestants called "heretics", but "separated brethren". Now the Catholics are in full flight. Just like it is the in thing to unite in the political, financial and military fields, you are also to unite in the religious sphere. This unification has resulted in one thing: The metamorphosis of Protestants. They have drawn near to The Catholic Church.

Protestants and Catholics regularly reach agreements, e.g. "The Joint Declaration" (the common announcement regarding the Lutheran and Catholic teaching on righteousness), and "The Charta Oecumenica", an agreement between Catholics and Protestants in Europe. In this document they call for full church communion. Let us read from point 5, § III in this document: "Until we reach the goal of full church communion, we intend to act together in all matters in which no deep differences of conviction compel us to act separately."

They are "to avoid hurtful competition" (Point 4, § II), and we quote further from point 4, § III: "We commit ourselves to discuss our mission and evangelisation work with the other churches; not to induce people to change their church membership."

Hence churches are to jointly evangelise the unchurched, and individual congregations are to work to reach those who have "slipped out the back door". In practise, the agreement in the document "Charta Oecumenica" means that all recognise each other as adequate alternatives. They are to evangelise jointly, but avoid "stealing" members from one another. However, how can Protestant churches strike such a deal with The Catholic Church? This endangers freedom, the freedom to unequivocally preach a Biblical message, including the message urging people to leave Babylon (Revelation 18:4).

Today, almost no Protestant priests call the Pope Anti-Christ. The Protestants in Luther's time harboured no doubts. When the papal bull reached Luther, he declared: "I despise and attack it, as impious, false…It is Christ Himself who is condemned therein…I rejoice in having to bear such ills for the best of causes. Already I feel greater liberty in my heart; for at last I know that the pope is antichrist, and that his throne is that of Satan himself." (-D'Aubigné, b. 6, ch. 9).

In the [Norwegian] Lutheran Symbolic Books, page 539, it says that, "the characteristics which, according to Scripture, distinguish The Anti-Christ, perfectly apply to the papacy and its supporters." Luther was right. All Biblical marks of the great, anti-Christian power of Revelation 13, 17, and 18 fit the papacy. One of the titles of this seducing power, is "The Whore". The Bible calls her "the mother of harlots". The Vatican spokesman, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, said in the paper The Daily Telegraph, September 4th, 2000: "Ours is the mother of churches". So The Catholic Church says it themselves that they are the Mother church. They are the Whore. In the Bible, in Revelation 17:5, we read that The Whore also has harlot daughters. These are the churches which co-operate with The Whore, and adhere to several of her false dogmas. The Bible entreats us strongly not to become partners of The Whore. It says: "Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues" (Revelation 18:4).

In spite of these clear warnings, we are today witnessing Protestant church denominations entering into ecumenical relations with The Whore. Instead of protesting against the papacy and its errors, they are joining it. This is a sure sign of apostate Protestantism.

If you and we consider ourselves a part of God's people, we should not enter into ecumenical relations with the papacy and fallen Protestantism. We are most solemnly called upon to loudly and clearly urge people to come out of the great, seducing world power of the end time, the papacy. How can we give the right signals about leaving Babylon, when we go in there and worship together with Babylon?

We wish to stress that we caution about the Catholic system itself and its unbiblical teachings, as well as against apostate Protestantism. We are convinced that there are many and sincere God's children inside these churches. God must surely have His people in Babylon, too, because He says, "Come out of her, my people…" (Revelation 18:4). God has given us a burden to proclaim this message to those persons, who unknowingly are part of Babylon. "I have made thee a watchman", God says, "therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me" (Ezekiel 3:17). In heaven, we want to meet those of God's people now still in Babylon. We cannot bear the thought of their blood being required at our hand, because we refrained from the unpleasant task of giving God's message of warning and hope. Whenever God issued His sharp warnings through the prophets in bygone days, it was not to attack those living in apostasy. He corrected them from a heart full of love. He saw that if they continued on their course, they would eventually be lost. However: "I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye" (Ezekiel 18:32).

The ecumenical movement calls for unity. But are we going to reach unity by majority decisions, when these go against the Word of God, or is unity to be achieved on the basis of a "thus saith the Lord"? The Bible makes it perfectly clear that true unity has to be founded in all that Jesus stood for, both in practise and teachings (Matthew 28:18-20). Jesus said that we were to be one in Him (John 17:21). Catholicism and ecumenism are a completely different kettle of fish. We will give you a few, short examples: The Catholic Church has not given up a single of the unbiblical teachings, which necessitated The Reformation. They still claim that the Pope is the vicar of Christ on Earth, but we must base our faith and the church on Christ (the rock), not on erring men (something which the Popes have been throughout history). They still pray to the Virgin Mary, whereas the Bible tells us not to pray to dead persons or images/statues of them (Deuteronomy 18:10-12; Exodus 20:4-6). Still, the saints are invoked. Daily, the Catholic priests preach mass for both the living and the dead, whereas the Bible declares that the dead know not any thing. They will be in their graves until the day of resurrection (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10; I Thessalonians 4:15-17). During every Eucharist they "create" and "sacrifice" Jesus anew, in that they believe that the Eucharistic bread (the Host), through the blessing of the priest, actually becomes the body of Jesus. The Bible, though, instructs that Jesus was sacrificed once for all, and that The Lord's Supper is to remind us of the sacrifice, that Jesus achieved on the cross for us (I Corinthians 11:24; Hebrews 9:24-28).

Also, The Catholic Church has, down the ages, introduced many unbiblical customs, and we regret that many Protestant denominations have accepted several of these. It was The Catholic Church, too, that forged God's ten commandments in its Catechisms, making them differ radically on several points from the ten commandment law in the Bible. (Compare the commandments in the Catechism yourself with those of the Bible, in Exodus 20:3-17.) Unfortunately, The Lutheran Church has accepted the forged, Catholic commandments. What backsliding, what seduction (Matthew 5:17-19)!

The Bible says that the kings of the Earth commit fornication with The Whore, and the inhabitants of the Earth get drunk with the wine of her fornication (Revelation 17:2). We have now mentioned a few facts about the intoxicating wine of The Whore = the errors, which The Whore pours into the cup of the world's populace. So The Whore commits political and religious fornication with the harlot daughters, who are lead astray by her sorceries (Revelation 18:23).

It is deplorable and remarkable for Protestant churches now to seek to co-operate with the power that the Reformers called The Anti-Christ = the papal church. That group of people who once had to escape the bayonets and superior force of The Catholic Church, have now become its co-operative partners. What a dramatical change in views, what backsliding!

Of course we should try to sow the evangelical seed among all men, and gladly investigate the Bible with them. We are, in fact, called upon to do so! However, when a Protestant church denomination - as an organisation - attaches itself to The Whore, it has gone one step too far.

This appeal is once more directed at those, who co-operate with Rome: "Come out of her, my people that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues."

The choice is yours! Ask God to help you follow His advice! It will affect your eternal destiny.
